Tried searching the boards but didn't see a whole lot on gliders.. Anyone have any recommendations? I found some good deals on a Dorel Swivel Glider but don't know a whole lot about the brand. Anybody have a glider they love!?
We do not have a classic nursery glider. We bought a glider from West Elm, that we are planning on placing in our living room, when we are not using it anymore in a nursery. We got it on sale for 25% off I think. I saw Babies R' Us is having discounts on Nursery Furniture this week.
We just ordered one, the Baby Relax Abby glider and ottoman. I won't set it up until after Christmas as the tree is where we want to put it, so no reviews yet. I do have a good friend who had the same maker but a different style and loved it.
I wouldn't recommend the Dorel swivel glider. We got a good deal on one (I think the Kelcie), and it feels cheap. It "creaks" when you sit down and makes a kind of clicking noise when you rock, even though DH has checked multiple times to make sure everything is screwed in tightly. It does look nice, though!
Hi!! I did a lot of look and read a lot of reviews and finally ordered the Villa Pillowback Glider from the Kacy Collection from BRU. Online reviews can be SO critical but this has several positive comments. I haven't received it yet but am hoping for the best. It is also a reasonable price compared to many others. I used a 15% off coupon that BRU is still offering. Shipping was pricey though!
It got almost perfect reviews, and it cost about $200 including shipping which is pretty darn cheap for a rocker. I didn't want, and couldn't afford, to spend $500 on a nicer one, so I'm hoping the quality doesn't suffer too much. I'll try to update next week when we get it delivered and set up.
Hated mine, very uncomfortable during middle of the night feedings. I recommend sitting in them before buying.
Edit to add: Also bring a pillow and a football or something and see how terrible it is with your arms propped up in a feeding position before deciding.
No advice on actual gliders, other than, buy a good one. My Mom handed down the one that she nursed me in as a baby. Pretty? Yes. Nostalgic? Yes. Comfortable? Heck no. You WILL spend lots of hours in that chair - splurge, and get something comfortable!

I second the PP that said to try them out. We bought ours second hand- I haven't the foggiest idea what brand of where it came from. But it's light years sturdier than anything we saw in BRU. You want the glider to be comfortable and sturdy. Rocking a kid with a whining creaky chair sounds horrible.

I've been thinking about this West Elm glider and doing the same thing with it when it's used its purpose in the baby room. I'm waiting to order it when I see they have a good sale on their furniture. Do you have it already? What do you think? What color/fabric did you choose?
@mindala31 We have had it since 2013, when DS1 was born. We love it. It is really comfortable. We have the Performance Velvet in Dove Gray. It was the only color available at the time. The fabric is really easy to clean in case something stains it.

As a matter of fact, I do have a recommendation! I bought this one from Amazon (Also included a pic of it in my nursery). It comes in a nice cream color as well, among others. It's SO comfortable and looks great. I am in love with it. I almost bought the pillow ack from BRU but decided on this one because it was cheaper. Very happy with that decision. Happy shopping!
my cousin recommended this one, and I fell in love with it after one sit. It's due to arrive on my doorstep any day as it's currently on sale. Also comes in a nice celery color.

I was looking at that one as well! Shipping is over $100 so I am not sure yet..
We got a stork craft glider with our son and while it is pretty, we are going with a lazy boy rocker this time. I was amazed how much time I spend it. Comfort is key, especially at 2:00 am
Nursery is on the small side so I'm not totally sure what we'll be able to do for a glider/rocker. We've got a rocker in there now and you can't get to half the closet. My parents put it in there to set up the nursery as an announcement but we won't use it (they used it with me and my brother). My husband doesn't fit all that well in it. lol And it does have a deep seat so it's a little rough getting out. And it's not exactly comfy, it's wood and yeah.
My sister had this one from Pottery Barn Kids with her last baby in khaki and loved it. She's done and passed it to me. I'm lucky. Pricey expense avoided.

Lucky!! I LOVE the PB gliders.. On my Christmas wish list but I don't see that arriving on my doorstep any time soon! lol
@GiveMeABrownieNow thank you! I will have to look at our paint can when j get home tonight. We left it the same color we painted it when we built the house. I also added gold dot vinyls to one wall to make an accent wall.
Suggestion from a BTDT mom... I'd recommend sitting on a towel or something if you are going to nurse while sitting in your glider. Nursing causes some contractions that are uncomfortable and messy if you aren't prepared.
I just thought about something else to add. I tested getting out of the chair with something in my arms without hands. We were going to get a poang chair from ikea, but I couldn't do it.

Wow! We have SUCH similar nurseries! I have the same crib, the gold decals on my blush wall, and same color scheme. I will have to post a pic later
FYI to anyone still looking - I went to BuyBuy Baby this weekend and they have the "Savvy Glider and Ottoman Set" for $499 and you can use a 20% off coupon!
Re: Nursery Glider
I just ordered this one from Target:
