MIL rant/vent

Just need to vent so I don't go berserk on my MIL

We went to my BILs house today and MIL and FIL were there
When they all get together they speak in their native language (which I don't speak)
This doesn't usually bother me but apparently the conversation jumped to the other language because they knew I'd be pissed with the topic

As I've mentioned on here before my DH and I are looking to move out of state soon and my ILs are not happy about this
Today my MIL voiced her opposition to the move again
This time she was belittling my DH for planning to be SAHD
Child rearing is woman's work
We should stay close to them and let them watch LO while we both work FT
We are going to hate living in the city we chose
There's nobody in the other city to help us
We're throwing our money into a less-than-desirable area

The list goes on and on

She's free to have her opinions, no matter how much I may disagree with them
But it pissed me off to no end to have her think it was OK to wedge her opinions between my DH and I... Especially in a way that excluded me from the conversation


UGH
So stabby right now!!!

    It looks like we may have to insist on English... Which I think sucks!

    His parents are more comfortable speaking their language, I get it
    But when she does it intentionally to cut me out of the convo.... GRRRRRR

    :( It does suck. She sucks the most because she does it on purpose. Want me to kick her? :D

    That sounds like such a sucky situation :(  I'd definitely be talking to your DH about that.  Or, I'd be plotting on where to hide the bodies ;) (okay, not really, but there are always daydreams!)

    My DH's parents are from China, but they speak English, mandarin (which I can speak), and Cantonese. Sometimes they will speak in Cantonese in front of me and I get so pissed off because I have no idea what is going on. I tell DH to speak back in a language I understand, but he doesn't always do this.

    Relationships with MIL can be tense, especially when they may not have tact with which to express their opinions...may be a cultural gap or just a personality issue, but either way it is aggravating.
