Toy bin

I need one. Desperately. Nothing huge, just something to keep the clutter at bay because there are so many little toys lying around.

Any suggestions? There are so many on amazon, so if you have one you really like can you post a link? Thanks ladies!

Any other organizational tips are welcome as well. I was reading the cleaning hacks thread and got anxiety because everything is so cluttered right now.

Re: Toy bin

  • Ikea expedit with baskets for now. It works, but some of the bigger toys don't fit. We also have a milk crate in the living room under an end table. We don't have that many toys (IMO) but I shudder thinking of where to put the influx of toys we'll get from family members on Christmas.

  • We use the old tub but are in need of a real one so I'll be following! I suspect we will have many more toys to store after Christmas.
  • I have 3 canvas bins that used to hold DS1's clothes. They fit perfectly in the bottom shelf of our book shelf. Its not really my favorite plan ever, but we have no space for a toy bin in our tiny living room.

  • I got big canvas bins/buckets at a Home Goods with a colorful alphabet on the fabric. Like, $18 each. One for each kid and our family room is clean.

  • We currently have a good size woven basket (was given to us at our shower) that holds toys in the living room. Some toys are there, some are in his room and we swap.

I'm not looking forward to toys everywhere. We had my SS start keep ALL of his toys in his room when he was around 4 and I have loved not having toys/stuff around the house!

  • We have a large wicker basket in the living room and then canvas totes in the closet with toys that I swap out every month or so.

  • I bought a big "torkis" bin from IKEA for six dollars and it contains the mess for now! I like the rotating toys idea.
  • I use a large basket and it stays in his room.  Part of our routine is putting away all the toys that have found their way throughout the house before nap and at the end of the day.  Probably not really going to work when he's mobile and getting stuff out himself, but it works for now.
