I'm just going to add one thing to the welfare debate. My mom is a manager for a company that oversees group homes for people with mental disabilities. These people are unable to shop for themselves. They are also on welfare, food stamps, etc. Sometimes my mom needs to go food shopping to stock the group homes. She will use the food stamps card for this.
My mom gets her nails done, has a nice purse, and drives a luxury suv... she says how she always gets side-eyed when she shops for the group homes. But what is she supposed to do? You really never know what someone's story is.
When people spout their opinions about welfare off on Facebook it gets easy for me to edit my friends list. I am a social worker. If you don't understand welfare, have never been in a place in your life where you needed to use it, and have no empathy for those who do I don't really care to hear your opinion. Especially really nasty almost blatantly racist ones. Buh-bye.
I have a HUGE issue with people who live on it and make no effort to better themselves and their situation. I also side eye parents who let their children use EBT cards for pop and candy at the gas station.
That's fine....you don't have to love it but do you really understand what it's like for "those" people who live on it? It's not a glamorous life. People who don't have the life skills to budget, teach their children about good nutrition, how to manage childcare and working/job search. It isn't easy when you come from a background where those behaviors aren't the norm. Sometimes people lose their jobs. Shit happens. Be glad you have not been in that position. It usually isn't something as simple as they are "lazy" and won't work. Edited to add a couple thoughts
Shit - ok let me back step once. I worked at a gas station and there were 4 kids that would come in daily with their' mom's EBT card and buy piles and piles of candy and pop. No, I didn't mean it as a treat now and then.
I also side eyed the people who were able to use them to buy cigarettes.
Yes, I haev lost my job. I was 'let go' by an asshat when I was 7 months pregnant last time. I moped for a week and took my pregnant backside out and interviewed like crazy. I was lucky enough to land the job I have with an interview the day I went into labor.
How could they possibly buy cigarettes with EBT? Doesn't EBT have specific things that won't even go through their system?
I don't think The BIg Bang Theory is a very good show.

hahahaa! I think I can't get past any show that has a laugh track built into it.
Edit: I'll admit though, Sheldon does have some of the best one liners.

So far I haven't bought ANYTHING for DS for Christmas. Maybe it's cause he's only one, but I don't feel bad about it.
I haven't bought anything for anyone for Christmas. Me and DH don't usually exchange gifts, and we are spending Christmas 1,500 miles away from our families, so we probably aren't going to do gifts at all this year.
My UO: I think the "stranger danger" movement is a massive pile of shit. If a child is going to be the victim of a violent crime, odds are (unfortunately) that it's going to be a trusted friend or family member who does it. Teaching children that they should be afraid of strangers isolates kids, makes us suspicious of innocent adults who interact with our kids, and encourages a sense of insecurity and fear that can be absolutely devastating.
I really really REALLY struggle with the idea of breastfeeding this one. I tried with my first, and it almost sent me into PPD. So the thought of it sort of makes me hyperventilate.
Samesies. I'm dreading the newborn stage in general (

But but but.. what about Friends?
See, I do like friends. I think it's just when the laugh track goes off and it's not funny that it bugs me. IMHO, only Sheldon's (and sometimes Leonard's) lines are laugh track worthy. Penny's just cute. The others bug. Again..... my UO!

All of the above.
I remember how little sleep I got last time, and I was 5 years younger then. I was so exhausted my first day back to work, I drove my car down the side of a pole by the gas pumps at the gas station.

You are able to get food stamps and on the same card you can get cash. You can use that to get cash back when you make a purchase or go to the ATM and money.
I won't even lie I used state assistance when I had my first. I was a single mom struggling to get by. I had to support my daughter with no help from her dad because he choose to not be there. It was not easy and as soon as I got back on my feet I didn't need it anymore.
I don't see any issues with people using it for a short term. I have an issue with people who live off it their whole life and never try to better themselves. I do my best to not judge these people because I was in their shoes once.
There was a time I had my daughter who was only a few months old at the time and I was using my ebt card to get her baby food and formula and the lady behind me said, "maybe you shouldn't have had a baby without being married and you wouldn't be using my tax dollars." It hurt so bad and I started crying right there in the check out. It took me a few minutes but I gained the courage and told her my fiancé her dad walked out on us and hasn't seen her for a month, he doesn't give me child support, doesn't help with diapers, I get nothing from him. Needless to say she didn't have ouch to say after that. You never know why someone is on a state aid program.
So sorry you experienced that. Good for you for standing up for yourself.

Bahaha @valigrl21 sorry! If it makes you feel any better, he's just a filler. My number 1 is Brandon Marshall. But I didn't want to only post players from my team. I'm an equal opportunity ogler.
Yep that makes me feel much better! Marshall is a much better #1

In my normal, non-pregnant alter ego, I absolutely LOATHE Taco Bell. But now, it's all I can think about. That and Arby's.
Me: 30; DH: 32
Married since 3/15/08.
Pregnancy 1: BFP on 1/24/11 - Molly born on 10/6/11!
Pregnancy 2: BFP on 11/5/14 - Baby #2 due on 7/17/15!
In between pregnancies, I've grown to love my "other" baby. The "carb baby", that's taken permanent residence in my belly, thanks to my overzealous love of bread, pasta and pastries. Hence my name.
I hate McDonalds. Except McFlurries and breakfast - too bad they only serve breakfast in the morning.

The roast beef is gross, but those curly fries.... mmmm
In my last pregnancy, I didn't could barely eat any meat in my first trimester, but for whatever reason I craved Arby's roast beef sandwiches. I have the same craving now.

I've never watched even a minute of the Big Bang Theory (it's too weird seeing Blossom as a grow up) but that guy who apparently plays Sheldon was my fave character in Garden State, the Medieval Times knight eating Lucky Charms after banging the Mom (Charlene from Designing Women) Pure. Comedic. Genius.
This signature is all for YOU. I'm on mobile and can't see crap.
Women in pregnancy should be allowed a "pass" if they murder their husbands.
(not seriously but ready to murder mine).
He asked me how I'm feeling. I said "like I'm dying". He asked me to stop saying that. I said "why, I do?" and his response was: "well you don't know what dying feels like. I think people like your grandpa [who was very sick in the end] and Jesus suffered more than you are right now"
I am livid he pulled the Jesus and sick grandpa card.
No he didn't! What's got his panties in such a tangle?
I hate that stores start playing Xmas music in November. I hate that paraprofessionals get treated like shit and get paid shit (at least where I used to work). I hate that teachers get blamed when a kid acts up. I hate the cold weather. I am full of hate today.
I hate McDonalds. Except McFlurries and breakfast - too bad they only serve breakfast in the morning.
I think the fast food places should have a day occasionally where they serve breakfast all day. I would definitely go there for lunch if it meant I got breakfast. From a marketing/promotional standpoint they could have so much fun with it!
Could you imagine, though, the people who didn't know and showed up looking for lunch/dinner? They'd be upset.
They'd have to do some serious marketing leading up to it. But man, it would be amazing! (I'm not saying they all do it, just one chain at a time, maybe even just one chain in one market. But seriously, I would go that day just for that reason)
This is going to get me in trouble. I think vegans are crazy. You need certain things to be a healthy person and vegans always look so sickly. One of our friends decided to become vegan and she is having her two young children be vegan as well. Whenever her H is at a social event he eats all the meat because his body misses the protein. I'm fine with vegetarians because at least then you still get protein
My UO (and this one is going to get me SO flamed but that's life): I think that the woman in labor with her vagina laid out for all the world to see gets to pick who is in the room with her during the birth. And that's the only person's opinion that should matter.

This is how I feel about Jack in the Box. I grew up near the e-coli one that was all over the news way back when.

Haha when I heard about this on the news as a kid I didn't understand it completely and totally thought there was actual poop in their burgers. I don't think I ate jack in the box until I was a teenager.

THAT'S unpopular?! Seems like a DUH to me but maybe because there wasn't a single ounce of possibility I would let anyone other than my husband in!

On my last BMB, I got mercilessly flamed for this one. My mother was there for DD. His mother was not (because DH and I both agree that this woman is birth-psycho) and I didn't want my mother in law seeing my vagina.

I have no idea how the EBT worked for cigarettes.... but in Wiscinsin people used them all the time. You could even get cash back.
