Fasting number question for GD mommas!

I tested earlier than i normally test this morning. I was 92. Checked it again 5 minutes later because I wanted to see what I was at since this is my first non normal reading. It was 85. Anyone else experience a higher reading due to testing earlier in the morning just to have it go down in a few minutes? Should I be concerned about the meter accuracy? Seeing my diabetes specialist today but thought I'd ask you all too.

  • I have tested about a 20 secs later once and had it go from 90 something to 80 something. I wondered the same thing about the meter.

  • Thanks ladies!
  • Mine usually goes up a tad the longer I'm up. I asked my endocrinologist about it and she said being up and moving around in the morning can cause it to go up a little bit. I used to get completely dressed and ready and then take my sugar (about 30 minutes after waking up) and would get numbers in the 90s. I switched to taking it first thing in the morning as soon as I get up and now get 80s, even a couple 70s.
  • I tested the theory one morning (but don't do it regularly). My first thing in the morning reading was like 85. I got dressed and ready (took about 30 minutes) and then took my sugar again before breakfast, and it was in the 90s.
