SA ? (very TMI)

My husband needs to have his follow up semen analysis. I'm trying to save the poor lab scheduling girl some embarrassment so I thought I would ask this here. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I know from his 1^st test that he wasn’t allowed to use any type of lubricants. We are going to a new lab this time, and they allow off-site collections. Is salvia considered a lubricant? Like if I was trying to ahem orally assist him in collecting his sample. I don’t think too much salvia would be involved if he manually finished himself off into the specimen cup, but we definitely don’t need anything to decrease his already crap sperm.

So... does anyone have less shame then me and already gotten this answer they can share with me?

Mouths are full of bacteria so I'd venture to say definitely not.

If it's a really big problem for him, you can ask the clinic if there is any sort of approved lubricants. I read somewhere on some forum that someone was given one by their clinic.

In addition to the bacteria, I know saliva itself damages sperm. I don't know how much they'd come into contact with it, but I'd think it's better to be safe than sorry.

I've read some offices have a special condom for collection, so you might ask about that? I know mine does not, however.

Our office has little individual packets of lube in the collection room. Maybe you can ask if yours has something similar you could pick up when you get his collection cup.
