Nothing against male Obgyn, but...

I have nothing against male Obgyn's......but when you ask me how I am feeling when I am two weeks away from my due date, and I tell you how much pain I am in, how it feels like I sitting on my daughter's head, how bad the swelling is, how it feels like a rock scraping me whenever she moves, don't tell me you understand and shrug it off!!! I don't care how many other patients have told you the same thing...that does not mean you understand!!! You will never understand!!!

Sorry ladies, had to get that off my chest. I saw the doctor in my practice I am not a fan of and he made me so mad. I was in the hospital over the weekend for spotting and was supposed to follow up today and he did not even ask or bring it up. He stared at his stupid computer screen the whole time I was talking and tried to tell me he understood because what other patients tell him it feels like. At least give me the courtesy of looking at me when I talk and acting like you care.

  • Hope you're doing ok!

My husband is a doc (general surgeon) and he can't understand why men become OBs for this reason. And it's why I will only ever have a female OB! I also had a bad experience whole pregnant with a male doc in the practice. I also had some spotting, and when he went to do the exam he literally shoved all four of his fingers inside me. I mean I realize we don't have the same parts, but come on man!

  • I generally prefer female OBGYNs for this and other reasons!  Although when I was pregnant I was at a high risk clinic at the local university medical center so the OBGYNs rotated.  I had this awesome young male OBGYN for awhile whose only detraction was that he was stunningly good looking.

  • @MichieU79‌ I really not feeling great. I am in so much pain and uncomfortable. I know that it is considered normal, but the doctor's comments just put me over the edge, and brought all the other stresses going on and I lost it. Awesome hormones! He did not say anything about the spotting, just asked what I was told at the hospital. I just need to hope this little girl comes on her own soon. I really do not know how much more I can take. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts, I really appreciate it!

  • @DCKate‌ @ClaryPax‌ @ReeceFamily‌ I have to rotate among all the doctors in my practice that way I know whoever is on call when I do go into labor. There used to be two female and three male, now only one female and three male. The one I saw was my normal doctor when I just went for yearly check ups and I loved him, but when I see him as a pregnant patient I have started to like him less and less and the others more. Hopefully he will not be the one on call when I deliver!

  • ((HUGS)) on feeling so awful. I hope LO makes an appearance soon for you. I still have 6 more weeks and have been so uncomfortable because this little girl is pushing so low that (as you mentioned) it feels like she is pushing herself right out.

I have both a male and a female OB. I love them both, but the funny part is that the male is more gentle than the female. He has never pretended to understand what I have gone through. His wife is actually an NP in the same office and she always makes fun of him because he says he became an OB/GYN because he is a hypochondriac and at least he can't have any of the issues he treats.

  • Yeah, not exactly what you wanted at this stage in the game.

I actually preferred my male OB's to the female OB's. I ended up delivering with a female and I initially was disappointed. But she was awesome, very medical, very exact which is what I wanted during labor!!

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!
