So when these articles come out do you peek at them to make sure your baby name is on it, or do you cross your fingers it hasn't suddenly spontaneously appeared? (I'm in column B, as a "Jenny" from the 80's I was always one of at least three in every school classroom. Hated it.)

Re: Most popular baby Names 2014
DS is a Jr. (Michael) which is also my fathers name, Michael is usually in the top 10, looks like it didnt make it for 2014.... so sad
DD will be Torrey which is both my mother's maiden name and my sisters name (but she goes by TJ). I doubt I will see that on any lists anytime soon
I'm a Nicole and was always 1 of 2 or 3 in a class and hated it so I knew I wanted a name that wasn't going to be that way.

Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive. Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

I do check the lists and I do secretly hope the names aren't in the top 20. All of the Jennifers and Michaels, for example, went by their last names in my grade (3 of each out of a class of 30). I don't want that for my kid (maybe f we had a cool last name, but we don't).
I was super bummed to see my girl name so high on the list (Violet). DH wants us to spell it the French way (Violette - french, like my DH) but we live in an English speaking province so I feel that might be a burden on our hypothetical girl. Yet, his last name is french, so perhaps that helps. Who knows. No matter for now as our baby is a boy. :-)
I love the name Jack but I know there r going to be so many Jackson's

Yes, I totally check the list to make sure my names are not on it. Doesn't matter really though. When I named my first two, (Henry & Nolan) neither were in the top 100 (YAY!). Now they are both becoming pretty popular (BOO).
ETA: Confession - amack22 I totally posted something similar on FB.
Edited to add: I haven't run into any Claire's or Isla's in my area. I know for State Claire was around 89, but 48 for the country. Isla is around 169 for the country and not in top 100 for NJ. We did check the SS list state and country before we made a final decision.
I'm also a Nicole and at one point I had two other best friends in school, not just classmates, with the same name. Fortunately they both went by Nikki with their last initials, so I got to still be Nicole. I didn't want that for our girl

ETA:
I laughed out loud at this:
"We know celebrities get a hard time for naming their kid, like, Cookie Tractor, but there’s something to be said about originality, right? Let’s mix it up next year. And we’re not just talking about spelling your kid’s name with a “Y.” That doesn’t count."
So true! "You-neek" spellings don't make a name unique.

We're also fans of classic names. So, we'll likely end up with something top 20-100ish.
I really like the classic names and have an Emma, a Megan, and soon a Caroline. Surprisingly enough, we have yet to meet another Emma (other than an adult) in our church, school, etc. I've met other Megan's, but spellings vary.
Oh, I guess I have met another Emma child (a patient at a former office), but we don't personally know any other than the adult Emma.
