DH had a SA today

I saw my OB for an annual and after discussing TTC and my DH's health history she ordered a semen analysis.

He went to the lab today and they didn't tell us how we would find out the results.

Will my OB call me and let me know? Seems like a HIPAA issue and she wouldn't be able to tell me but surely DH won't go see my OB. Anyone else have a SA? How did you get the results back? I'm confused.

So, my doctor ordered the test for us and called me and told me the results were 'good/normal' but that she couldn't get into specifics with me over the phone without H's permission. But H could (and did) go and request his results so that we had a copy.

I would think that your OB, since they ordered the test, would get the results and call you to tell you the results were in and possibly make an appointment for him/the two of you to come in and go over results. Or they will call him. I'd go ahead and call your OB and ask how you guys are supposed to go about getting the results.

At my office, I signed an authorization form that allowed them to give all of my health info to people I authorize in advance (only DH).

Dh didn't get an SA but when we met with our RE and had our karyotyping done we signed forms to allow her to release info to DH about me and vice versa. We have an online patient portal where most of our info and results get released as well.

My OB called DH with the overview of his results and then referred him to a urologist to fully exam the results.

My OB told us the test was fine. It wasn't until 6 months later when we ordered a copy for the RE that we found out he had a low sperm count. Ask for your own copy of the test!
