All I can say is Heartburn central. I've tried milk, apple cider vinegar and water, ice cream and tums. None of them really work. Just venting since the heartburn is keeping me awake.
I went from Tums to Zantac to Zantac + Tums to Prilosec and now the Prilosec 2x a day plus Ultra Tums plus Peppermint Tea. Results are minimal heartburn.
I'm taking pepcid once a day, and Tums as needed, which some nights is a LOT, and other nights, not at all... If it were worse for me, I'd probably switch to zantac, but the pepcid seems to be doing the job so far.
I had to switch to Zantac twice a day. It helps a lot, but it's not perfect. I have to take it on an empty stomach in the morning and at least two hours after dinner at night. I will say that taking fewer Tums has really helped the constipation issue.
My doctor has me on Omnipazole and it helps big time. One pill once per day. Ask your doctor and hopefully he can tell you what is best for you. Heartburn just sucks.
Live like there is no tomorrow..Love like you have never been hurt...
I am a Zantac girl started with 75mg and then moved on to the big boys. I stopped using tums due to the fact they actually cause constipation so just FYI if your battling that as well you may want rethink the tums.
Chewing gum works for me during the day as does avoiding bending over. Every time my kids see me bend over they say, "mom! You are gonna get heartburn. "
Get something stronger! last appointment I was in tears, the heartburn was soo bad all I could drink was milk and could barely eat. I was having stomach acid come up in my mouth, it was hell. My Dr gave me nexium, its pure heaven in a little purple pill!
Re: Popping Tums like after dinner mints

I'm really glad I misread it. Popping tums is a lot better than pooping tums!

You don't have to suffer, heartburn is pure hell.
Is it an old wives tale about heartburn and hair?
