Cloth Diapering

How many covers using prefolds

I am making my registry because people are already asking....

I want to focus on the cloth diapers for the registry since getting the stash can be pricey.

We have settled on prefolds, GMD fitteds, and flats.

I found a cover I like and that I'm not allergic to! Rumparooz.

I know they don't work for every baby. So I am planning to try some other covers.

Would 6 newborn covers and 6 one-size covers be enough? Or do I need to go with 8 of each?

Thanks!

Re: How many covers using prefolds

  • We're using a combination of prefolds and fitteds and six seems to work well for us. LO is five weeks old.

  • I would stick with the six. That would be plenty for wearing and washing.

  • 6-8.  I preferred 8 for NB.
  • I have 8 covers for when baby arrives. I went with 8 to make sure I had a couple spares just in case.
  • I have somewhere around 20 in OS/size 2.... Rainbow of solids, plus prints to match anything the boys are wearing.
  • I'd shoot for 8 NBs. Like a PP, I usually wound up with poo in the gussets with mine.

  • I don't know if you'll have the same experience, but people were super reluctant to buy us cloth diapers from our registry. I hardly put anything else on it... and somehow we ended up with ONE Freetime. I guess they didn't think I'd be that excited to receive diapers at the shower?

So, make sure you put gift cards on your registry too.

  • Am I the only one with 20+ covers, and don't have a mostly insert plus cover stash?

  • I am up to 13 OS covers per girl.  I only use prefolds/flats/fitteds though.
