It's cool. Work has been crazy, so a day "off" is actually kinda nice (my company still pays us). Just hoping I don't get put on a lengthy trial.

Jury duty. What database does the county use to select jurors?
Because my BF got called up, but he's not a US citizen and I'd think that tidbit of information is on pretty every official document.

Generally DL, tax records, or voter reg. Localities differ

Maybe the tax record, then, because he has no DL or vot.reg.

Me too! The one time I did get called they cancelled it the night before. womp womp. DH still gets called all the time in MONTANA. He hasn't lived there in five years. I guess if they don't have a lot of people to choose from you cycle through faster.

I was pulled for a murder trial but not actually selected. It was fascinating to see the process at work, but I don't know how I would have actually made it through that trial. The victim was a teenage boy, so since I was teaching undergrads at the time I was booted real quick.

DH served on a jury a couple years ago. Child molestation, but with very little evidence. It was horrible.

I was almost on jury duty but then I was asked if I had ever been a victim of crime. Someone stole my purse out of car but my kids were in the car. We were at gas station and I was paying at island.

I have gotten with jury duty thus far. I never got called in the 7 years I was of jury duty age while I lived in NY...within 2 months of me moving to NJ, NY finally called me for jury duty and I no longer lived there, so I got out of it.

I then made it until 2013 without getting called in NJ...and I got called while on maternity leave. I showed up to check in and as soon as I said the words "nursing mother of a newborn" they dismissed me before I even had to sit in court...I doubt I'll get so lucky a third time, but I am one of the worst people to have on a jury anyway. I am a paralegal and work in house for a huge corporation and basically think all plaintiffs are lying liars who lie...not exactly an ideal juror, lol!

So far, I've been sitting in a big room reading YA novels about a 17-year-old who discovers she's a troll, so I have to say my day is going pretty well!

They've called a few groups in, but apparently are going to start empaneling people around 2, so maybe I'll get called in?

I wasn't allowed any electronics at (UK) jury duty. We were provided with puzzles and decks of cards, though. I was dismissed :-bd

We can use electronics in the jury waiting area, but I assume we'll have to turn them off if we get called inside.

I love getting called for jury duty! I think it is fascinating. I've been called a lot, but often I get called when I'm nursing so I can't go. The one time that I actually got assigned to a trial, instead of just sitting around w/o getting picked, I ended up being the 1st alternate. I didn't realize that until we got called to deliberate and I didn't get to go in.
