C-Section Recovery Check-In **Dec 3**

How far out are you from your surgery? How are you feeling in general?

What challenges did you face this past week? What did you accomplish? What are you hoping to accomplish this next week?

What's your favorite thing to do to get out of the house (with or without the baby!) these days?

Re: C-Section Recovery Check-In **Dec 3**

  • 1) I am about 5 weeks out. The last few days I have been really sore...not sure whT that is about! I can definitely tell when I over do it and need to take a step back.

    2) I also have my 6 week pp check up next week. DH keeps bringing up how excited he is to have sex again. I am really nervous about it because of how sore my incision is. Anyone have any suggestions on positioning to help make it better? I assume me on top will be best...

    3) most of my getting out has been to the mall and target, but today my mom and I are going to one of the museums downtown that has this thing called "Jingle Rails" and has this train track and miniature replicas of landmarks, like the Grand Canyon, old faithful, and some local ones as well.

I wish it were warmer because then DD and I would take all of the walks outside...but here we are.

  • It's been 8 1/2 weeks and I'm feeling really good.

My main challenge lately has been dealing with my PPD. Being more active and mobile has helped with that a little. Just cleaning the house and cooking dinner make me feel like a real person again. I have a very hard time when I'm not productive, so being incapacitated for weeks was really hard for me. Exercise has also always been crucial to my mental health. I've been focusing on rehabilitating my core for the past few weeks and am really looking forward to getting in more intense workouts soon.

Despite being shamelessly colicky at home, my kid seems to do well when we're out and he's in motion, so I like taking him anywhere that involves a long car ride or walk in the stroller. The grocery store is only a few blocks away, so that's a good morning expedition. But my favorite thing to do is drive somewhere for dinner so that he'll fall asleep in the car and nap through the meal.

  • 6.5 weeks out. Feeling ok (not great) but also feeling like I've had some setbacks...still have spotting and potentially a slow thyroid. Very nervous about both and the implications. Cleared for exercise but feeling run down from what might be the slow thyroid which is keeping me from getting motivated. I was feeling so good and energetic during the pregnancy that this is a bummer.

I feel like I haven't accomplished much but we did host thanksgiving so I should be happy with that.

I haven't gotten out of the house much with or without baby but starting to strategize a game plan for mall visits ( what stores have rooms to nurse in, what bathrooms have changing tables, and what areas in the parking lot have elevators). Hopefully I will go next week with LO :)

  • 8 weeks out - feeling fine physically almost all the time. Just some discomfort during sex (if there is any rubbing on the incision) and sometimes I'll get a tugging or sharp jab feeling but it seems to be randomly and not related to whatever I'm doing at the time.

I'm finally cleared to resume regular activity - but... I'm still nervous to. So my goal is to get in one or two light jogs this week.

I love going to Starbucks with M. The sound of the coffee grinders puts him to sleep and I can just sit and talk with a friend. Oh... and they have pumpkin bread... so yeah.

  • 6 weeks out from surgery. Feeling much better.

I'm planning to start exercising this next week. Looking forward to adding in some sort of physical activity into my day... besides baby benchpress and curls. :)

I'll do anything in the evenings when DH gets home. Easiest/closest escape is Target. We usually will go with LO but I went tonight without her. Last week I went out for a mani/pedi while LO hung out with DH. That was amazing!!

  • How far out are you from your surgery? How are you feeling in general?

7 weeks today. Feeling pretty good overall but still noticing soreness at the incision if I do too much

What challenges did you face this past week? What did you accomplish? What are you hoping to accomplish this next week?

I started light exercise after my 6 week checkup. I've been going on longer walks with LO and have been doing my prenatal barre DVD when I can. Today, I'm headed to a mom and baby yoga class for the first time!

What's your favorite thing to do to get out of the house (with or without the baby!) these days?

Mostly just walking so far. But I haven't been getting out as much as I would like. We only have one car that DH and I share so I haven't been going out much when it's been too cold to walk too far. I'm looking forward to when LO is bigger and I feel comfortable wearing her on the subway to do more during the weekdays.
