  We have skipped gifts for each other several times in order to stretch our budget elsewhere, but I kind of hate doing that so I've dedicated myself to being extra super thrifty with everybody else and we set ourselves a $50 limit.

  DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
  131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....

  We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.

  DH is a gift whore. And I don't mean that in a bad way. It's his love language. He just loves gifts. I'm looking for Packer tickets for him which will easily be in the $200-$300 range. Plus little side gifts here and there.

   Date nights with babysitters are few and far between, so I'm thinking of making a schedule and buying some of the stuff needed for a weekly stay-at-home date night.  I'm hoping that having a "date box" of sorts -- with a film already picked out and a snack/drink option at the ready for the first month or so - would make it less likely that we just work on our computers instead of doing something together one night a week after the boys go to sleep.

  
  

  We don't have a netflix subscription presently, but I kind-of want to choose the films because "here's a netflix subscription - let's watch some together" seems like it would be too easy for us to just not do.

  This is not romantic, but I think I'm going to get him a nice, old school shoe shine box with polishes and stuff.  He also loves clothes, so I may get him a Banana Republic sweater or something.  I weirdly want to get him cute pajamas, but I don't even know where to look.

  These are the Christmases and birthdays that DH is used to. Poor guy got a slap of reality when he married me. He went from getting luxurious gifts from his parents to very tightly budgeted gifts from me. Although his parents still gift him with really expensive stuff that always blow out my dinky gifts. Oh well. More money in our savings!

  Friend decided to have her wedding (that all 3 of us are in) on the 27th so our budget is TIGHT. I got him tickets to watch The Hobbit so we may just go on a date.

  I spent 35 on him. He spent like 80 on me. We know what we're getting each other. We picked it out. Haha

  DH and I are not exchanging. In the past we have and we had some elaborate christmas's. This year neither of us wants anything and we have been so good about saving money and paying off bills so we decided not to exchange.

  We don't usually do gifts. In the past we have done trips, nice dinner, big ticket items for our house, etc.
  
  This year, we are returning to Maui for our 5th anniversary! We had our wedding there.

  We try to keep our purchases around $40 each. Some years we can give more, others we can't. I don't plan on buying him anything besides maybe some candy to go along with a date night. Although, that Hobbit idea is really good....
