anyone have experience with this? It feels like carpal tunnel. I'm trying to remember whether heat or ice would be better. Might have DH stop for a brace on his way home. Will probably be bumping less bc this hurts! ( well, maybe just love tits.
I had this with DS and while I haven't fully developed it with DD, I have sensitivity/tenderness and I have to be very careful with movement and positions. For some ice works and for some heat, it just depends on your body and which of the two is usually better for you. Besides the brace, I can recommend 2 things… a homeopathic gel called Tendon Rescue, which you can find at natural stores and online, and being really careful of avoiding the positions that cause the pain. A couple of weeks ago I woke up one day with bad pain on my right hand and for the next two days I applied the gel and was very careful to avoid painful positions and the pain cleared up so preventing and quickly responding to the pain is what will probably help you the most.

There is a way to test for whether de Quervains tenosynovitis, or "mommy thumb" is the problem. Touch your thumb to the pad below your pinky, then curl your fingers over and make a fist. Then hold your hand with your thumb towards the ceiling and bend your wrist now. If that causes pain, then you've got mommy thumb!
I have this! And actually just went to the doctor today because it has gotten so bad I could barely move my hand and wrist. The doctor gave me a cortisone shot and told me to ice it if needed. I'm hoping it goes away soon. I could barely function with one hand and a newborn.
