I know this has been discussed but I can't find it - I apologize if I'm being redundant...
I am totally flumoxed about the transition to whole milk. I asked at his 1 year appt yesterday, and she was pretty vague about it, just that he can transition off of formula and onto whole milk.
What my question is, is how do I go about this??? I have been giving him some whole milk in a sippy cup for the past few weeks, but he rarely drinks more than a sip of it before pushing it away. He drinks water like a champ from his cup, and when I stopped breastfeeding last month, I introduced his morning drink of formula in a cup instead of a bottle, and he drinks that just fine.
Right now here is his formula/milk/food schedule
7:30 AM - 2 oz formula
8:15 AM (when arrive at DC) - breakfast
9:30 (ish) - small snack at DC
10:30 (ish) - 4 oz formula
11:45 - lunch
3:00 (ish) - snack
5:00 (ish) 4 oz formula
6:30 - dinner
8:00 - 4 oz formula before bed
So he's having about 14 oz of formula a day - lots of dairy, in the form of yogurt and cheese.
Are you eliminating the bottle when you switch? Or mixing the formula (or Breast Milk) with milk in the bottle?? Is your LO eating a lot more to make up for the missed Formula since that's more filling than milk?
I feel so lost on this one!!! I really appreciate any input/help/advise!
And thank you if you made it through this!! Sorry so long!!!
Re: Transition to Whole Milk
She gets milk 3x per day for a total of 15ish oz. sometimes in a sippy, but in a bottle before bed or naps. like Wedding06, pedi suggested no more than 20oz/day.
