Who else is in school?

The BMW thread seemed to have a few mama students on it so I am wondering who else is currently in school?  What are you majoring in and how long until you are done?  Any big goals for after you graduate?

Re: Who else is in school?

  • I'm getting my nursing prep classes done (half time school so far), and will be able to apply for the nursing program in May. The plan is to start full time school next fall.
My short term goal is RN and long term goal is CNM. So I'll be in school 4-8 years.

I had to take this semester off as it started on my due date, and classes start again mid January. I'm freaking out a bit!

  • I am going for my Bachelor's in Health Care Administration.  I have 4 semester left and 2 full time internships to do.  I can't wait to get back to work.  I have been taking classes on and off for 13 years and have changed my major like 6 or 7 times. When I am done I will be the main income earner and H will have the chance to finally do something he wants to do.  I think I want to work in a pediatricians office.  Mostly I want the chance to make sure parents are informed on the importance of vaccinations and car seat safety.  Those are two areas I find I am most passionate about so I feel like I should do something with all the information I know.

I'm with you on that.  It seems tonight may be an ok night for LO and of course I am up working on end of the semester crap (and Bumping, oops).  I feel like I won't sleep ever again between the baby and all the homework!

I had kind of an intro to coding class last semester and holy crap the terminology made my head spin.  There are so many changes happening right now so it is a great time to get in.  My professor was a coder for years and she loved to talk about the flaws in the health care system.

  • Just had to toss in my encouragement! You ladies rock!!!! And you can do it.  I graduated earlier this year with my Master's degree in Teaching, and two years ago with my Bachelors in English.

  • @AyannaPC I feel the exact same way.  I want to be done with school and make enough money to buy a few things or go on a family vacation.  I don't want a lot of stuff, but I would like to be doing more than just barely getting by.

Before I dropped out for a couple years, I was taking classes to be a vet tech and had intro to med terminology and I loved it. I thought it was so easy how words came together -oma meaning cancer and whatnot.

Yes we are barely managing which is so depressing so I just can't wait to contribute to the household.
  • I'm a Criminal Justice Major. I have two years left for my bachelors. I plan on working for SAPD Homicide Unit.
  • Going to school to be a marketing major, I have about a year left! School is so much harder with work and a baby!
  • I'll be finished in May 2015 with my Bachelors of Social Work. I cannot wait!! I almost took this semester off due to DDs due date being the week that classes began. Thankfully my professors worked with me and let me take some time off and do assignments on my own.

I start an internship in January so I'm excited to finally be getting out in the field and gaining experience.

Like other PP my main goal after graduation is to get a job and start contributing to the income. I can't wait to take a vacation and go shopping without having to worry too much about us being able to pay the bills. Of course, I won't be getting rich or anything in this profession but it will be a whole lot better than nothing!
  • @amj1053‌, my friend is in social work. Her philosophy is that she does it for the outcome, not the income. :)

Yes! I always tell people that I'm not doing it to make money, I'm doing it to make a difference!

Also, I will never understand why people feel the need to tell me how I'm never going to make a lot of money in this field. So what? If I want to be poor the rest of my life then that's my business! Lol
  • Me! I'm in my last semester of classes for a BA in Homeland Security. Of course, I realized about a year ago that I don't like my major and wish I had majored in Political Science instead.. but now I'm too close and I can't change it due to some Army regulations anyways. If I stay in the Army until retirement I'll get my Master's in Political Science.. If I get out in 2017 I will go to law school and eventually work as a prosecutor specializing in sexual assualt crimes. (I'm a Victim Advocate, and this is an area I feel passionately about).
