what baby bottle brand will you be using for your little one?

With my first (now 5 years old) we used the avent ones that for some reason aleays seemed to leak. 9 OUT OF 10 times it would leak but the good thing about them was that my baby was never gassy or colicky. I wasnt thrilled w the bottles but not exactly turned off by them either. She was breastfed as well si i wanted a good bottle w the nipple that was like that of an actual breast. What bottles are you breastfeeding moms using to supplement?

We have both Avent and Dr Browns.

DS preferred Avent, which was fine by me, since there were fewer parts to wash. We never had a leaking issue.

I'll buy a couple new nipples for each and see what happens with this LO. I don't anticipate needing a bottle that frequently since I SAH now and didn't with DS.

As I want to breastfeed, I'm leaning towards Avent and Dr. Brown. I've heard the Medela ones are pretty good, too.

We used dr. Brown with my dd. they were awesome! Didn't leak, she never had any problems with them. They are the biggest pain in the ass to wash. If you don't have a dishwasher they are even worse. I am not sure what we will use for this baby. I can't imagine trying to keep up with dr brown bottles and two babies.

We started with Dr. Brown but once he started daycare we switched over to Tommee Tippee because it was easier to defrost sticks of breastmilk in them (Dr. Browns was too narrow to fit more than a 1 oz stick).

Since we already have them on hand, we'll probably try to start with those this go-around.

But to echo what others have said, babies are really particular about bottles. They don't like/won't take all brands, so find one that works. It's a bit of trial and error.

We are planning on getting a variety of brands to try and hopefully one will be agreeable to baby! I will have to go back to work after only 4 wks of maternity leave so I will need something that baby can transition to easily during the day and still take breast at night. There is so much pumping in my future...

We started with tommee tippee but they were way to fast for my daughter. We ended up switching to playtex ventaire. I would not buy a ton of bottles until you figure out what's going to work for your babe. We made that mistake.

I used Nuk with my dd. They had different nipples for fast \ slow flow. She never had gas or any issues. Hoping breastfeeding will work out with this one!

We used the playtex ventaire wide and loved them. Never leaked and DS switched easily from breast to bottle with no issues. We also tried the tommy tippee and that did not go well- the nipple kept caving in and he would get frustrated. As others mentioned, don't get a ton until your LO tries them out.

We used medela bottles since they hooked right to my pump. They never leaked either and were easy to clean.

I used Born Free. DD did ok with them but honestly she wasn't a fan of any bottle. I would like to get some that could connect to pump next time (I've heard Dr. Brown's work with the Medela PIS)

I was looking into all of the bottle types and I was wanting to get a warmer also because I am going to breastfeed and freeze some too. Is there a warmer that you ladies perfer? Or is there a better way of warming up frozen breast milk? Thanks for all the advice this FTM is very appreciative:)

Hi I was researching bottles for breast feeding moms who work and I came across a fairly new bottle by munchkin called latch. There are great reviews on this bottle so that's what I'm leaning towards. For my first baby we used dr. brown bottles which were great!

I used Dr. Brown's and loved it with my first, only downside is the cleaning can be time consuming, lots of little crevices to clean.

We never used a bottle warmer. I always froze BM in those plastic baggies and then ran them under warm running water to thaw. Super convenient because even if you go out, places always have sinks.

I'm trying not to lurk but I've been busy with kids and work AND I can't figure out how to make my signatures show up which annoys me. That said, we used Dr. Browns with my other two and liked them in theory. But there are so many dang parts I'd rather use any others. So... maybe the Ameda ones that came with the pump? I'll just be good about burping.... lol

Something really really really helpful they taught in our breastfeeding class: Milk comes warm from the "tap", cold from the bottle. That way you never have to worry about heating up/warming the milk. Which means you are so much more portable. Once defrosted, milk last 24 hours in the fridge. So if you know you're going somewhere, throw the frozen milk in the fridge the night before/morning of, then DH (whoever's feeding the baby) can just grab the bottle and go.

This is also why I like the milk trays that freeze in 1oz sticks, because you can just pop as many sticks as you need in the bottle and just bring it with you.

Thank you for posting this!!! I have been looking at Avent Tommee tippie. I don't want to use Dr Browns because my sister inlaw uses them and I want to use something different. Because she comes over a lot and I don't want confusion.

Another Dr Browns fan here. @avazirian they come in a few colors if you decided you wanted to use them. Also, inchbug makes orbit labels that are great for daycare or keeping two babies' bottles separate. Dr Browns are a pain to clean but I just always keep a basin in our sink and we have enough to get us through one day without washing. I wash them by hand after DD goes to sleep. I think DD had some minor reflux and the DB bottles seemed to help. She was EBF until 4 months.

We used playtex ventaire and drop ins. Honestly, I didn't really like either of them. The drop ins were nice because you could just chuck the liner but I found they were leaky and didn't like that there was nothing between slow and fast for nipple speeds (at least not where I live apparently).

This time I think I am just going to go buy one of those "starter packs" of another brand. My SIL loves everything avent so I might try those and see how it goes.

@jjvanwagner25 I pumped for the first couple months until DH had an accident at work and I couldn't keep up with it anymore (DD wouldn't latch so bf wasn't really an option) and then switched to formula. I never warmed the formula up and DD never had an issue taking it. Even when I was pumping I wouldn't warm the milk, I would just take it straight out of the fridge. That said this time I am considering getting one of the formula mixer thingies that is like a Tassimo but for formula - you put in water and formula and it will automatically warm, mix, and put it into the bottle. (You dump in a whole bunch of formula and just tell it how many oz you want and it measures it out!!!)

We are going to use the new Avent bottles. We got some free from a baby store (sample pack, 4 Oz bottles).... so will try those. If baby likes we will buy a few more for times DH is feeding or grandparents.

We tried a bunch of bottles with my first and finally settled on Comotomo. The Comotomo leaked less than most and were by far the easiest to clean. They aren't as easy to heat (silicone not plastic), but they were a nice plastic alternative for daycare. I plan to use them again.
