Adoption party?

I have kind of a weird situation my teenage niece decided to place her daughter for adoption with a family friend. In till now her and the father have planned on parenting but the situation isn't working out. She canceled her baby shower but I would still like to do something for her. Maybe a party and focus on after the baby is born like gift cards for clothes. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The only stuff I can find online is showers for the adoptive parent.

IMO having a party after your niece has made an adoption plan isn't the best idea. She will be grieving, which really isn't cause for celebration. I think a much better idea would be taking her out to lunch, calling to check in on her, or just listening when she needs support. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture to let her know you're thinking about her.

Another thing to consider is just expressing your excitement over her pregnancy. We have heard a lot from e-moms and b-moms here lately that they just wanted to share their feelings about their pregnancies without it being a taboo topic with friends and family

I think it's so very kind of you to think of her. I remember my daughter's mom having a baby shower while I was pregnant. I was happy for her and pushed her to do it, but it hurt that I never got to celebrate my pregnancy and the excitement of bringing life into the world, even in the painful circumstances (I wasn't a part of the shower). I would suggest lunch with maybe a gift for her like prenatal massage and a group card of encouragement.
