Low Carb/High Fat Diet?

Has anyone else been on a low carb/high fat diet to help with fertility? I have been on this diet since June, but most strictly the past 2 months. It's starting to get to me. I want bread, pasta, sweets and soda!

Re: Low Carb/High Fat Diet?

  • I've done low carb and weened myself back to complex carbs instead of simple carbs. I recall when I first started low carb that I craved carbs bad! Eventually that did subside, however, low carb is not a safe diet while pregnant. Your body needs carbohydrates and I recommend adding whole grains and beans to your diet.

  • @mj0011‌ thanks for the link! I have always eaten low carb due to my pcos, so that article is really helpful. It's hard for me to eat carbs, so I just keep reminding myself the baby needs them!
  • My doctor wants me to continue on low carb my entire pregnancy. Ugh! Of course I will do it for a healthy baby.. I will do anything. It just worries me because I do not feel like I am eating enough. Yet they harp on me because I'm too small..??
  • I have been following for the last 9 months or so but atm am giving in and eating what I feel like am still logging food so know I am not going overboard at all will get back on board and be a lot stricter with myself starting second tri but until then I am feeling ok with just eating what I can

  • I am going to talk to my doctor tomorrow. I feel nauseas, but the thought of more meat and veggies makes me even more nauseas. And then I don't want to eat at all, which I know isn't good. Seriously, I'm over the low carbs.
  • I do the paleo diet which is lots and lots of meat! Plus fruits and veggies. it's supposed to be grain free and sugar free. Since I've gotten pregnant I've added back in thE grains brown rice and oatmeal but I hope to stay gluten free. I have so much energy on this diet and I know I'm only 4w but I still feel great.
