1. What was the 1st album you ever purchased? New Kids on the Block - saved up all my allowance to buy it. "Step by Step...ohh baby"
2. What song defines your childhood? this is a good one. I'm pretty stumped
3. Do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, what? No, I sang in choir, but in rock band I love to play the bass, does that count?
4. What is currently the most played song on your music player? Flower by Moby - I use it to do swats
5. If you were to make a soundtrack for your life choosing only one artist's music, which artist would you choose? Sade, she's my go to when I want to reflect on life, love...

1. What was the 1st album you ever purchased? Whitney Houston's debut, self-titled album, on casestte tape. Man I listened to that thing every night for probably close to a year. Wanna Dance With Somebody was my jam!
2. What song defines your childhood? It depends on what you're defining as childhood. If you mean more elementary years it would probably be the songs from the Disney movies of that time, Hakuna Matata from Lion King or Whole New World from Aladdin. If we're including teenage/high school years it would definitely be Good Riddance by Green Day. It's actually for a very depressing reason, but that song will always bring me back to my high school crew.
3. Do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, what? I played clarinet and cello but was honestly never very good at either one. I think by high school I'd abandoned them both.
4. What is currently the most played song on your music player? Beyonce Freakum Dress (great workout tune!)
5. If you were to make a soundtrack for your life choosing only one artist's music, which artist would you choose? Hands down it would be The Beatles!

2. What song defines your childhood? I was a child of the 80's so I would have to say anything Madonna
3. Do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, what? I played clarinet in middle/high school
4. What is currently the most played song on your music player? This: I'm loving this song these days for no specific reason

1. What was the 1st album you ever purchased? I can't remember if it was Bonnie Raitt Luck of the Draw or Carole King Tapestry. Those two still remain on my top 10 greatest of all time albums. I'm younger than that statement makes me sound.
2. What song defines your childhood? "So Far Away" by Carole King.
3. Do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, what? I played piano since early childhood, flute through middle & high school and sang since I can remember. I still dabble in all of them. Music is a huge part of my life, obviously.
4. What is currently the most played song on your music player? "Something In The Water" by Carrie Underwood. It is new, but I've had it on repeat for a bit. It is helping me through some crazy rollercoaster emotions.
5. If you were to make a soundtrack for your life choosing only one artist's music, which artist would you choose? John Mayer. He may be a jerk personally, but he is a musical and lyrical genius (most geniuses are jerks). His stuff is actually really deep when you listen.

1. First album - Mariah Carey (1990 eponymous cassette tape)
2. Childhood-defining song - Allstar (going with middle school here)
3. Musical instrument - I rocked the clarinet for almost 10 years. It's currently under the bed collecting dust. Too hard to keep up a strong enough embouchure without playing regularly.
4. Current most played song - Matisyahu One Day
5. One-artist lifetime soundtrack - Jewel or Billy Joel

Just think of this ladies, the next generation probably won’t be able to identify an actual album they purchased (I’d doubt if my teenage nephews have ever bought an true album). They’ll have individual songs downloaded from iTunes or somewhere. So tragic, in my opinion!

@shafwilson – LOVE “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”. That music video was AMAZING! Andplusalso, LOVE LOVE LOVE “Freakum Dress”. Great choices!!

@BunnyBerry I love Matisyahu, and that song! I don't meet many people who are familiar with him. We actually saw him in concert last year, it was awesome!

@BlueFairy5 - Some of my favorite songs have been the non-singles from albums that I never would have listened to if I didn't get the whole thing. I think that's why artists are starting to release the majority of their albums to air play. That is sad to me because more air play means songwriters have to write songs that the masses will request, which leads to more comercialized/catchy/trendy music (i.e. less artistic for the most part).

@LindseyM2012 Isn't it sad? Have you ever read one of those "Kids today will never know..." lists? They're so true and we're not even old.

1. What was the 1st album you ever purchased? Everybody Duck. High five to anyone who has heard of them.
2. What song defines your childhood? This is going to sound really weird but Mrs. Robinson by Simon & Garfunkel. It doesn't exactly define it but it does remind me of it. i was only aloud to listen to oldies and christian music growing up.
3. Do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, what? The cello and the (electric) bass.
4. What is currently the most played song on your music player? Set The Fire to the Third Bar by Snow Patrol
5. If you were to make a soundtrack for your life choosing only one artist's music, which artist would you choose? Wow this one is hard. Colbie Callait was the first that comes to mind. Not because her music is better than anyone elses but it is less dramatic than the lows and more level headed than the highs. I feel the same about Jack Johnson @DayDreamSam

@shafwilson YES on the Beatles for # 5!!! Was my first thought too! We would have amazing life soundtracks for sure.

1. What was the 1st album you ever purchased? I believe it was Ace of Base!

2. What song defines your childhood? Hmm that's a hard one, maybe Green Day "welcome to paradise." I was really into them in middle school and went to their concert when I was in 9th grade.

3. Do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, what? I took piano lessons for about 5 years, but then didn't have time because of how much ballet I was doing.

4. What is currently the most played song on your music player? I've had Taylor Swifts new song on repeat for a couple weeks now. I've never been a huge fan of hers at all but "blank space" is so catchy!

5. If you were to make a soundtrack for your life choosing only one artist's music, which artist would you choose? Like I said above, DITTO to @shafwilson with the Beatles. My favorite all-time band by far... I took an entire college course on their music, and felt like it literally was the soundtrack to my life during that time because I was listening to them so often.

I love that everyone's answer to #1 is like a flash back. As a person who doesn't listen to the radio much anymore, I get really excited when I hear music from the 80s and 90s.

1. What was the 1st album you ever purchased?
Culture Club, Colour By Numbers. Why?...I don't know. The cover must have spoken to me because Boy George was definitely not the music by peers were listening to. Also, it must have been a used tape because the actual album came out the year I was born.

2. What song defines your childhood?
True Colors by Cyndi Lauper (I guess I was really into songs about colors?) and Jack and Diane by John "Cougar" Mellencamp. I remember totally rocking out to those songs on the bus. The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bush were more of my jam in the teen years.

3. Do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, what?
I have never played a musical instrument, but I have totally slaughtered the music produced by one. I "played" the flute in school. I was even in the marching band, but I was so bad (and couldn't march and play at the same time) that I would just move my fingers so it looked like I was playing. I own a guitar and a mandolin but can only play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. And that is on a good day.

4. What is currently the most played song on your music player?
I haven't been very musically inclined lately, but I tend to lean towards Samson by Regina SpeKtor or something by the Dixie Chicks.

5. If you were to make a soundtrack for your life choosing only one artist's music, which artist would you choose.
I'm with @shafwilson and @BandM14, Beatles all the way! My runner up would be Gloria Estefan because the rhythm is gonna get ya.

Thanks @LindseyM2012‌ . I am terrible with music, can't be bothered, but this is fun to get me thinking! 1. What was the 1st album you ever purchased? I'm with you @kushie77‌ and @lemonliz, Thriller was definitely one of my first records! Like cassettes were still new! lol. First record was probably the Mini Pops! I also remember buying Madonna's True Blue. I also remember years later actually listening to the lyrics and being mortified that my parents let me have the album! Of the innocence of youth! 2. What song defines your childhood? I don't know about a song that defines my childhood, but definitely Footloose or Hewy Lewis and the News brings me back to my childhood. My parents would have parties on the weekend and blare some good old rock and roll! Lol 3. Do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, what? I played the flute and picalo in middle school until early high school. 4. What is currently the most played song on your music player? I Generally listen to the radio, but I do have a cd DH made me with ZZ Ward And Alabama Shakes. I love the bluesy rock sound. 5. If you were to make a soundtrack for your life choosing only one artist's music, which artist would you choose? I love Alicia Keyes or maybe Corrine Bailey Rae.

@shafwilson That's so cool! My little sister got me into him. Growing up, she basically listened to everything I did, and even inherited my iTunes playlist. But now I'm too busy to search out good music, so anything I listen to that's post-2008 has pretty much come from her recommendations.

@bandm14 @lindseym2012 I listened to the Happy Nation tape on my little Walkman literally 1000's and 1,000s of times. My parents had to listen to the whole thing first before approving it for my consumption (this was in second grade) and I can remember the incredible trepidation and impatience waiting and hoping for them to finish and decide if I could keep it!!

2. What song defines your childhood?

Michael Jackson's THRILLER. I remember my parents playing this album all the time and I remember watching "The Making of Thriller" with my dad every time it was on VH1/MTV.
3. Do you play/have you ever played a musical instrument? If so, what?

I play the piano and guitar. I recently started playing the guitar again since I am home alone (DH stays at his work place Sun-Friday) and get bored easily. Playing now makes me realize how damn good I was back when I was a teenager. I didn't appreciate my talent....and my talent for writing songs.
4. What is currently the most played song on your music player?

So I'm STILL going through my 90's phase and the most played song right now and for the past 3 months has been Plateau performed by Nirvana during their Unplugged set.
5. If you were to make a soundtrack for your life choosing only one artist's music, which artist would you choose?

OMG this is sooooo hard. I don't think I can pick just one! Probably the Beatles since they went through so many different changes in their music from their first to last album. Change....I've changed a lot over the past 33 years.

@Ann612 I was torn between Smashing Pumpkins and the Beatles for number 5! I've been watching a lot of old videos on Youtube and almost every Smashing Pumpkins song is just epic.
