Still not feeling movements

I am almost 25 weeks pregnant and still haven't had the ahhhh moment of feeling our baby girl move. I fugured i would feel her alot more considering that I haven't gained that much weight. She is crazy in our ultrasounds just nothing yet for mommy. Is anyone else going through the same thing?

Re: Still not feeling movements

  • On the plus side, she is active on your ultrasounds. I would definitely share your concerns with your doctor as @happymamax2‌ suggested. You could get a Doppler reading or possibly an extra u/s to see what's going on in there.

Are you a FTM? I am, and I was told it can take longer to feel the baby your first pregnancy. I didn't feel him until 21 weeks, and not regularly until 22. Placental position could also impact how or when you'll feel the baby.

Fx that your doctor can help ease your mind!

  • I agree you should talk to your healthcare provider. He or she may tell you the best time to feel your baby move 30 minutes after eating. Also you may be feeling movement and not realizing it. Some people say it feels like an air bubble or a gas bubble. For me I feel a tugging or pulling sensation in my abdomen when the baby is moving. I hope everything is okay! Good luck!
  • I am 24 weeks today and also barely feel the baby. At both USs he was unable to keep still so I am not worried! My midwife said kinda worry at 26 weeks. I am a FTM and don't know where my placenta is. Oh and also to clarify I do feel something... I just don't know for sure that it's baby M!
  • I'm a FTM and I had no idea what baby movement felt like.  Didn't realize I'd been feeling him since 22 weeks or so.  To me, it definitely feels like gas.  If I didn't know I was pregnant I wouldn't even think twice about the movement feeling because it is so similar to how I feel when I have mild gas.  I only realized that it's actually the baby I feel after talking about it with a few people because I complained I didn't feel anything.

As long as the baby's active on the u/s machine she's probably fine but I'd bring it up with your doctor at your next appointment.

  • Yeah, for me it started out like little gas bubbles and then changed to the feeling of big, shifting gas bubbles. Now half the time it feels like my stomach is dropping the way it would on a roller coaster. So you may be feeling baby and just not realizing it.
  • I am 27 weeks and don't feel much but I still have felt her move here and there. I do have an anterior placenta so that is the reason. I tell my dr every visit that I don't feel much movement and he always double checks that everything is okay. Even though it is not as often as my first, I have felt her move though so I do think it is somewhat strange you haven't felt anything at all. Hopefully you start feeling more movement soon!

  • I'm 23 weeks and I still am not feeling baby that often either and when I do it's super subtle, but I use my Doppler at home almost daily so that's reassuring.

  • Depending on when your last ultrasound was it can't hurt to contact your doctor and let them know of your concerns. Like others said though baby may be moving and you just aren't recognizing the movements.
  • I would def talk to your doctor. I agree that baby may be moving and you are just not recognizing the movements. I started feeling around 19 weeks. I am currently 25 weeks.

  • I'm a FTM who felt baby early. It started out as twitches and like someone was flicking me in the stomach. As I type this, I'm getting little flicks (sometimes she's gentle, other times she's doing barrel rolls).

The first time I really felt her was in the car. I could feel the movement between my belly and the seatbelt. I never had a gas bubble quite so... aggressive?... so I knew it was LO.

Most of the time I don't feel her when I'm standing up and/or walking around. I feel her best when I'm sitting or chilling in bed.

I also had a breech babe for a while (haven't had an u/s in 3 weeks so we may have changed), so her butt was directly on my bladder. It's the strangest, most uncomfortable feeling when a little foot steps on your bladder!

  • Do you know the position of your placenta? With anterior placenta I didnt feel anything until 22w and everything ive felt has been obvious kicks. Some people say they feel like "fingers grazing the inside of their belly" or fluttering but at 26 weeks I still have no experience of those feelings.

If you do have anterior placenta, my OB said theyre not concerned with what movement the mother feels before 30 weeks. Your OB may feel differently, ofcourse.
  • I have an anterior placenta with this one and have been feeling consistent movement since about 16 weeks. I'm almost 24 weeks. I would talk to your doctor about it and see what they say. Even just to hear the heartbeat to ease your mind. You may be feeling baby movements but not recognizing them. Try laying down and relaxing and drinking something cold. That could get the baby moving. Even something with sugar. Wait about 30-60 minutes and see if you feel anything.
  • I didn't realize I was feeling baby move until I thought to myself that I was having way to many "gas bubbles" but didn't even have gas. Even still that is what it feels like unless one of them rolls then it feels like the roller coaster sensation someone talked about earlier.
