Can we stop with the throwing?!

I'm losing my freaking mind. Wes WILL NOT stop throwing. We are consistent with taking the item away and putting him a time out, but he's still doing it. Water bottles, blocks, trucks, bowls of cereal, clothes, my phone, literally anything. I ended up with a bloody lip again today and a bruise on my cheek. I'm so over this. Any advice? I'm at my wit's end.

  • We are also stuck in the throwing stage with no end in sight. I have no advice either but I feel your pain.

  • Nope, we love throwing over here too. It is non-stop. Hoping that it ends for all of us soon!

  • Is your LO in daycare? We made a rule that includes "throwables". Basically it has to be soft for DS to be allowed to throw it. One evening, he threw a book and it landed in DDs face. I lost it. I ended up raising my voice and yelled NO NO! Then pretty much dragged him to timeout. He cried and I glared. When he throws now, it's taken away and put on top of our china hutch where there's no hope of him ever reaching it. He doesn't get t it back until the next day. He still tosses things, but if he lobs anything now, we ask him to play gently/ nicely and show him how to play with it. Those all work, but we also had to ask our DCP to help enforce our rule. I thought it was just a phase he'd get over on his own, but we ended up having to put the rules in place to help redirect his behaviour.

  • @rosebean nope, no daycare. Just me all day, every day. I tried getting together a basket of softer balls that he can throw as long as it's not at anyone, so we're trying that. We've been consistent with time out and taking the item away, so maybe if we add in an outlet where he CAN throw, it'll work. I'm just sick of getting trucks to the face.

I just got a mega Lego block to the top of the head and it hit just right that it brought treats to my eyes.

  • Happening here as well...it's the pits.  Right now, time out and taking away the object is working for us, but we may be moving to a "throwing outside only" rule pretty quick here.
