TTC After a Loss

*~*~*~*~ May Flowers Check in *~*~*~*~ 12/1/14

Hello my May mommas <3 I hope your week is starting off right

Please update us on what is going on with you both TTCAL and NTTCALR. Please feel free to PM me anytime if you are having a tough week. <3 or if you get a BFP. xoxo

This is a check-in for anyone who had a loss or an EDD in May (of any year). I am so sorry for each one of your losses. I hope that this can be a place to give support and help each other through this difficult time. Members, give us an update on how you are doing. If I didn’t tag you with specific questions, it’s only because we didn’t hear from you last week (or for a few weeks) - please jump back in. Please pop in and let us know how you’re doing even if you don’t have time to respond to everyone individually this week! New members, introduce yourself so that we can get to know you.

If you get a BFP, please PM me and let me know so that we can congratulate you on PgAL. I try to lurk on PgAL often, but sometimes it’s tough and I might miss it. Please send me a PM also if you are taking a Bump Break.

  • @Km380 How are this evening lady?
@linkloveszelda26 What kind of BP issues are you having?

I'm doing ok.  Just sitting here curled up in a blanket while looking at the lights on our Christmas tree.  My husband goes to Puerto Rico next week and I'm kind of dreading the time alone, especially leading up to Christmas.  Oh well, at least he will be back before Christmas.

QOTW: barefoot whenever possible, but flip flops when not.  I guess if they ever made bike friendly flip flops (without my feet going flying off the pedals), I'd be happy!  I hate having my feet confined.

  • Hi Km380! I hope you are doing well!

TTCAL  - Things are going fine. First cycle off the bench. I'm a bag of mixed emotions. I haven't been charting/temping this cycle, but if my body is regular I should O in the next few days. I maybe posted this last week; but MH and I are taking the NTNP route just to get back on track. A MC can really take a toll on your sex life.

NTTCALR - Not a whole lot going on. Our weekends are booked through the end of December so that is exhausting. I love family but all this running around gets really old really fast.

QOTW  - Flip Flops are my absolute favorite! I would wear them year round if I could.

@linkloveszelda26 Good luck with the BP issues. That sounds not fun. I also pick flip flops. They are my favorite.

@Menrandes What is your husband going to Puerto Rico for? Work? I bike in my flip flops all the time. I’m assuming I don’t go as fast as you, and I am lucky to have all of my toes yet.

  • @scubadiva30 Yep, work.  A company is renting a show that he worked on, and someone has to go with the set and be there for various technical aspects of the show.  So he'll be gone for almost two weeks.
We usually do biking for errands or when we want to go long distances.  I haven't found a really good flip flop for doing that.  But I do wear sport sandals in the summer while biking, so that's close enough while making sure the flip flops wont go flying off my feet at the wrong moment!

  • @linkloveszelda26 Oh no!  Well FX that your appointment on Friday will help!
He's leaving for work stuff.  This trip is relatively short, but I'm bummed because the last time he had a work related trip I got to go with him.  I just can't this time.  Next summer he may be gone for two months at various stops in China!

Do you get to go to China? Yeah that's a bummer you can't go especially during the holidays! Yeah I don't know what's going on with me, but I'm over it.
I doubt it.  They have 7 cities planned I think.  That's way more flights than we would be able to afford!  But really, I'm hoping that traveling during that period would be out for me anyway.  Gotta keep that hope up I guess.
But if I am capable of travel, they might have a stop in Hawaii at the tail end of the trip, so I might fly out for that.

Hi everyone. Thanks @Km380 for the check in... how are you?

It's gross and rainy out where I am, so I'm snuggling on the couch with my pup while DH cooks dinner (yes, you guys read that correctly).

AF actually showed up today when I totally wasn't expecting it. I'm not charting or anything (not at this point), but I believe I should be ovulating next weekend and DH and I will start TTC again. Just like you @scubadiva30, I'm nervous to be getting off the bench, but trying my best to move on and be hopeful.

@linkloveszelda26, I hope your doctor's appointment will help things.

@Menrandes, I hope you get to go out to Hawaii! Have you ever been before? It's beautiful out there.

QOTW- My floral canvas Toms slip ons. They are so comfy and cute.

Bummer you're not getting to go to Puerto Rico with him. Hopefully travel is out for you by then, but if not, Hawaii sounds okay...

  • Hey ladies,
This past week sucked.  I got sick on Wednesday (fever/throwing up) and it continued on Thursday.  I was supposed to go to my parents Wednesday but I coudln't even go for Thanksgiving.  It's the first time in 34 years I haven't been home for Thanksgiving.  It was horrible and I cried all day. I couldn't eat more then soup.   I finally went to my parents on Friday.  I was still feeling crappy but I spent the day with them and my brother and cousin came back over to do a Thanksgiving part II.

I'm feeling better though not great.   My RE appointment is next week.  I'm so ready for it.

@linkloveszelda26 I hope you get your BP issues resolved.
@menrandes I'm sorry your H is leaving during this busy time of year but I'm glad he'll be back before CHristmas.
@scubadiva30 Good luck with this cycle!

  • @king26, how miserable. I'm sorry your Thanksgiving was ruined!! I hope you feel closer to 100% soon!

  • @MellyMel15 Oh yeah, the same show being rented was rented in Honolulu two years ago.  He got the call for that two days before he had to be there, so they were more than willing to pay for me as well to make sure he would actually come!

@king26 I hope you are feeling better!  I'm sorry your holiday wasn't good.  :(

  • @km380, thanks as always for the check-in!

@linkloveszelda26 good luck with the 2WW.  Sorry the BP has been all over the place.  Hope they get it straightened out at your appointment.

@menrandes sorry YH is going to be away at the holiday time.  Maybe take some time to indulge yourself?

@scubadiva30 FX for O.  I agree some NTNP is nice to get the romance back, especially AL.

@cavewmn glad your MIL is finally gone!  Not a great time for added stress.  Hope things go well this cycle and the incision heals.

@mellymel15 yay for burning the bench!!

TTCALR:  So I had my monitoring ultrasound today after Clomid 50 mg.  My uterine lining was 9 mm and had the three stripe appearance (yay!).  I had one 15 mm follie, one 12 mm follie and one 10 mm follie on the left.  So, not quite ready yet.  I have a repeat ultrasound Wednesday.  If they grow 2-3 mm a day my RE is hoping we can trigger Wednesday night and I would do an IUI on Friday.  Hoping those follies continue to grow!  They called me in the hcg trigger through a Walgreens specialty pharmacy but I'm still waiting for it to arrive.

Interestingly, my AMH was high (> 5) which he said can sometimes be associated with PCOS.  But, I have no insulin resistance, no elevated androgens, no excess hair, I'm pretty thin, and I don't have > 12 antral follicles per ovary ( but I was close, 12 on the right, 10 on the left pre-Clomid).  Any thoughts?  I'm going to try to get more details on Wednesday.

NTTCALR: We decorated for Christmas this weekend.  I'm taking my last set of boards this Wednesday and cannot WAIT for that to be over with.  I feel like I can enjoy the holidays after Wednesday.  We're looking at a new house Wednesday evening so I'm excited to see that.

QOTW:  I would live in flip flops if my toes didn't freeze!

  • @Km380‌, thanks for posting:) Hope all is well with you.

@linkloveszelda26‌, That sucks:/ I hope your appointment goes well, and they find a way to control your blood pressure.

@Menrandes‌, I hope the time that your DH is gone passes quickly.

@scubadiva30‌, I feel ya on the hustle of the holidays. It's good to see family and friends, but it gets exhausting.

@cavewmn‌, I'm sorry to hear that you're still having issues with your incision. FX that it heals up soon.

@MellyMel15‌, Yay for burning the bench!

@Sterling13‌, Sorry to hear that your cycles are being unpredictable.

@king26‌, I'm sorry to hear that you were so sick over the holiday. sending all sorts of positive vibes for your RE appointment.

    AFM

Nothing too exciting going on with my cycle. I'm about 8DPO, so I'm expecting AF in a little less than a week.

We are officially in St Paul, MN now. But DH got some sort of flu bug, so 1/4 of our stuff is still in the U-Haul:/. But I'm loving the city so far, and really loving the house we are renting. Our pets seem to be adjusting well too. Our cat, Tom, handled the road trip like a champ! Our dogs have been a little clingy, but seem to be adjusting pretty well considering. Now if I could just get our massive amount of junk unpacked...

  • Good morning ladies, sorry for the unintentional P&R last night. I got super tired out of nowhere. I will be back in a bit to respond to everyone.

Thanks all for asking about me! I had an ultrasound and blood work yesterday and all looked good so I am officially in my IVF cycle! I started stims last night. I am so excited to be moving forward. Never thought Id be here but this is our best shot. I will also go to acupuncture twice this week.

Non ttc- I've been busy! We decorated for Christmas this weekend and I finished the tree last night. The house is festive! We also started painting a guest room. We have a 3 bedroom house and we've been there for almost 4 yrs and not touched the 2 spare rooms. Painting a guest room and getting new furniture is an acceptance that if we are successful with IVF, 1 child is enough. In a way it's a relief.

QOTW - flip flops! As long as I could afford constant pedis lol

  • Hi @Km380, thanks for the check-in and hope you're doing well.  The 2WW was a bitch.  Since we had good timing, I had really convinced myself that I might be pregnant.  Temping was really exciting, but knowing exactly when I O'd made me really crazy.  I even did the whole "is this implantation bleeding?" when I started spotting.  I hope this month is better and I can control the crazy a little better.

@linkloveszelda26, I'm sorry you're having BP issues.  I hope you can get some answers at your next appt.  Good luck during the 2WW.

@menrandes, I'm sorry you're going to be alone for a few weeks but I'm glad DH will be back by Christmas.

@cavewmn, I'm sorry you're incision isn't healing well.  And I'm so sorry you had to put up with your MIL for a whole week.  You're a better wife than me.

@King26, I'm sorry you had to miss Thanksgiving.

@nikiswimr, I hope those follies grow!!!

@elsiemae, I'm glad the move went well and hope y'all can get settled soon.

AFM, AF came on Saturday at 10DPO, so that was a really short LP.  I hope this month my cycle will be a little more normal.  I'm trying to remain hopeful for this cycle.  Hope is all we have sometimes, right?

Also, I won't share all the ugly details but being around DH's family for Thanksgiving was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad idea.  It may be months before I show my face at a family get together again.  After I O'd last month, I was so excited and hopeful.  I felt like I might finally be crawling out of this deep, dark hole that I've been in.  Well, after this weekend, I'm right back to square one.  This process is just a rollercoaster of emotions.  One minute I'm fine and the next minute I'm depressed again.  My plan for the rest of the year is to avoid as much social interaction as possible.  I told DH that he can go wherever he wants, but I won't be joining him.

  • @Km380, I'm happy to hear things are moving along for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

@scubadiva30, Thank you. I think I'm just going to TTC for a month or two without charting and temping and see what happens. My cousin was telling me she got an OPK, so I may look into that. Toms are pricey, but I've worn the pairs I have multiple summers, so the price is worth it for me. When Nordstrom has its half yearly sale for women and kids you can usually get them at a good price (plus Nordstrom has free shipping if you don't live near a store).

Thanks, @ElsieMae. Glad to hear your move went pretty well, hope your DH feels better soon.

Thanks, @nikiswimr. I hope things continue to go well for you with your follies growth.

Thanks, @cavewmn. My MIL annoys me sometimes too. Luckily, I mostly get her in small doses.

Good luck with this cycle! What is acupuncture like? I've never had it but have heard it can work wonders for certain ailments. I get the image of needles every where and freak out a bit about it.

  • Ok I'm back! I read the whole thread at once - I didn't realize how many lovelies are here. Bear with me if I miss someone... Mobile bumping is hard yo!!

@linkloveszelda26‌ I hope your appt Friday goes well and you get your bp fixed. That can't be fun.

@menrades I hate that you'll be alone leading up to holidays (((hugs))). Don you have any friends or fam that owe you a visit?

@scubadiva30‌ ntnp sounds like a good plan! Mc & ttc can take a serious toll on sex life so the less emphasis the better to start. Gl!

@cavewmn I hope the incision behaves itself now. I'm sorry your mil is so awful and I'm glad she's gone. I think you should treat yourself to something special

@mellymel15 YH cooks dinner!? Jealous! Gl this cycle. Are you using OPKs or ntnp?

@sterling13 I want tp your cycle for being frustrating.

@king26 I'm so sorry you were sick and missed thanksgiving. I can imagine how upset that would be. Hope you're feeling better!

@nikiswinr go follies go!!! Let us know how it goes Wednesday?
    Good luck on your boards!!!

@elsiemae glad you are moved and the pets are settling in. Is YH better? That sucks. Gl unpacking

@chanelA (((hugs))) 9dpo is early. Fx it's just too soon

@sweetcalittc1‌ ugh TP to your coworker. Being back at work can def help though. AF can take her sweet ass time after a loss, she sucks. You may have a new "normal" or it might take a few cycles to get back to your old normal. I have a necklace too (in my siggy) and I wear it all the time.

@wellybug IMO temping = crazytown. I hated it. If it drives you too nutty try just OPKs, I'm a fan of the digital ones, very user friendly. I'm sorry about your holiday, some people are just better avoided (((hugs)))

Whew. Hope I got everyone! If I missed you feel free to call me out on it :-)

I always picture Charlotte covered in needles in sex and the city lol. It's actually not painful. Once the needles are in you don't feel them and it doesn't hurt much putting them in. The hardest part for me is the 20 minutes of relaxing with nothing but my thoughts :-SS I do think it is helping my stress levels though

  • Km380 - I'm glad to hear you are doing well and are in your IVF cycle! How exciting!! FX for you! I'm not really sure what all the steps to IVF are - what's next?

linkloveszelda26 - sorry to hear about your BP. Hope everything goes well at your appt Friday.

Menrandes - maybe you can watch shows/movies that YH doesn't like while he's gone? I like to plan stuff DH doesn't like when he's out of town . . . or do a fun girl's night out. Hope the time goes by fast for you.

scubadiva30 - Hope you find some time to relax too and things aren't too stressful/busy.

cavewmn - Sorry to hear that your MIL is so strenuous . . . hopefully you can relax now that she is gone.

MellyMel15 - I understand the mixed emotions on your first cycle off of the bench - it's completely normal.

Sterling13 - Hope your cycle isn't too  long and you O soon!

king26 - I'm sorry you were sick over Thanksgiving. Hope you are feeling 100% better!

nikiswimr - lots of exciting (triggering and looking at a house) - hope everything continues to go well! Let us know after your appt tomorrow!

EIsieMae - glad to hear you are doing well! Good luck with the unpacking.

ChanelA - hopefully you just tested too early. Hang in there!

sweetcalittc1 - that's good that work was better than you expected. Take care of yourself and give yourself time! I saw so many families out at the Christmas markets this weekend - I just wanted to cry sometimes thinking I should be one of them. It's hard (((Hugs)))

wellybug - I'm so sorry that Thanksgiving was horrible and that you are going through a rough time now :( (((Hugs))) Take care of yourself!

    AFM:

AF showed up on Friday, so I spent a long weekend with the in-laws drinking spiced mulled wine at several Christmas markets. I love this time of year, but  it was hard seeing all these happy families . . . that was supposed to be us too. DH doesn't always realize how much I think about having a family and I think he's been realizing it more lately. He wants me to stop stressing about it.

We talked about testing and we are going to wait until around March. We will have been trying then for about one year post MC. DH is still optimistic and I'm going to try to stress less about getting pregnant. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I'm going to focus on yoga and toning up my body. We are planning a big vacation around Feb/March (Thailand maybe) and I will start planning that after the holidays and try to focus on it.

QOTW: I love being barefoot . . . so if I am wearing shoes, I prefer sandals :)

Hope you lovely ladies have a great week!

  • @alm288 I'm sorry about AF (((hugs))) A big vacation sounds great! I hope it's good for you to plan it and maybe relax a bit. I hope you don't even need the testing. Yoga and focusing on health could also help with stress (even though I know it's impossible to not be stressed about this)

  • @Km380, yes, my DH cooks. I'm kind of hopeless in the kitchen (although I like to bake) and DH is good at it and doesn't mind, so he mostly cooks for us. I'm usually his sous chef and I try to pull my weight by cleaning up and washing the dishes after.

As for TTC this month, I'm just going with a combo of NTNP and figuring out based on the length of my last cycle when I could be ovulating. I also can usually tell when my body is ovulating because I get bad cramps on my left side. If that doesn't work, I'll probably turn to an OPK next month and then go from there.

@alm288, thank you. I know how you feel about seeing all the happy families and it seems unfair that that's not happening for us. I was a little bummed around Thanksgiving because I thought I'd be pregnant this year and it hurt that I wasn't (I think I was also PMS'ing a little). I hope you and your DH have fun planning your vacation. DH and I are thinking about going to New Orleans at some point next month. He's been, but I never have!

I know what you mean about the spare room situation.  We have three bedrooms on our main floor.  We have always called the one in the corner the "future nursery." Lately we have taken to calling it the spare room and I am trying to think of other things to do with it.  It's like a kick in the gut every time I go in it!

I think during my time alone I am going to do a ton of cleaning.  And wrapping presents in secret!

  • Hi everyone, I was getting intimidated reading through all of this thread, and then saw @Km380‌ 's post about it being okay to not respond to everyone. I've only ever used my mobile to bump so multiple shout outs would take me hours.

I can sympathize with Thanksgiving being a bust, I was waiting for a natural MC when we went to DHs family for the Canadian holiday. We had photos taken with the whole family where when we were deciding how to tell everyone that I was expecting, I had fantasized about telling them just before the last photo was taken. Now that photo is in the Christmas letter that my MIL sent out, and DH and I are the only ones that know that there was an extra person in that picture who had just passed away.

As for me, AF has just come and gone, and was happily much shorter in duration than the constant spotting after my MC. I think I might actually be back to normal.

If my timing is right, I will be ovulating when we are at my parents place for Christmas, sleeping on my grandmas old twin bed. Sounds like fun!

I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy the holidays. I'm no therapist, but this thought really helps me: imagine you have a child just like you (with the same fertility troubles that you're having). Is THEIR life not precious and still worth enjoying?
  • Thank you ladies for all the FX, I think I need a mental break. I've wasted 3 test, all BFN and I'm 12dpo. This is my first month temping and my temp is increasing so I don't know if my cycles have regulated post D&C... I'm so confused.

  • @23Tez23‌ I'm mobile probably 90% of the time. It gets a little easier as you get to know people but unless you catch a thread early responding is hard. ;) I'm glad AF showed but don't be surprised if you're not "normal" yet and the next one is different. That sucks about the cards (((hugs)))

@chanela I don't have any temping guidance, sorry. The crazy train ladies are a good resource. I only tried it a few months before we moved to medicated cycles. I will say this - step away from the pee sticks!! Testing early will drive you bsc. I know it's hard but stay strong
