Who else is teething and what are you using?

Hey ladies, I know this has been discussed but I can't find the thread.  Who else is teething?  My LO has 2 coming in and wants to chew chew chew.  Only problem is the only thing he'll chew on are my fingers :( Ive given him pacifiers, wubbanub, and teething rings both chilled and room temp.  Any amazing recommendations out there?  Teething biscuits? TIA!

  • My LO isn't a huge fan of teethers but I have a question also...how do you know that your LO has 2 coming in??? I didn't know until she had two bust through the bottom.

  • LO has been showing signs of teething for weeks now - but nada, no teeth.  He also wants to chew chew chew, and my fingers appear to be his gnaw-toy of choice.

Sophie is a favorite, too, and lately he is really into this insect ring - https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3506277&cagpspn=plab_5754526&camp=PLAPPCG-_-PID5754526:BRUS&eESource=CAPLA_DF:3506277:TRUS

  • He also just doesn't like the teething keys, for whatever reason.  Frozen or not.

  • I forgot that I had a sophie, ill bust that out and give it a try.

Lcgroenewe I can feel them when he bites down on my fingers.  He has one on the bottom and I can kind of see a tooth popping through, its clearish looking but hard like bone.  And I feel another in the middle of the top of his mouth on the right. My pedi said the first to come in are usually two in the middle bottom.

  • Like PP AJ loves my knuckles.  Also, like another PP what he prefers changes from day to day.  Usually he goes between the baby banana and Sophie.  I'm using Hylands teething tabs when he is irritable and can tell it's because he wants to gnaw on something but his gums are sore and Tylenol when he is supper grumpy/irritable/unconsolable/wants to gnaw but it hurts to (usually at night).  They say this can last for months...why is this not mentioned like the sleepless nights are.  I went from an extremely happy baby to Mr. Slobbery-Grumpy pants!

  • He has been drooling for weeks and today is the first day he is beside himself. He hasn't wanted the teething toys I bought ever. Fingers seem to be his preferred. I have been giving him Tylenol and Orajel for infants (it is homeopathic).

For those that use the teething tablets - are they helpful and this may be a SS question - do you dissolve in water and give via bottle or do you let dissolve on tongue? I am afraid DS may choke on them.
  • I'm pretty sure DD is teething because she was a drooly mess and anyone and everyone's fingers are her BFF.

We got a baltic amber necklace which seems to help A LOT with the drooling. And so far she hasn't been super super cranky or needed tylenol. I've noticed the gums are a lot whiter and seem a little swollen the last couple of days so hopefully soon!

  • DS's bottom 2 teeth have popped up in the past 2 weeks. He has a variety of teethers that he'll sometimes like, but his favorite thing to chew on is a cold wet washcloth. I keep a bag of them in the fridge.

He was drooling and had red "teething cheeks" for 2 months, so I had no idea how to tell if he was actually teething....until he started sleeping poorly at night!

  • DD two bottom teeth appeared on Halloween, she had been drooling like crazy and had rosy cheeks. I wasn't expecting them to come this early so I only found out she was teething when they popped out.
She has various teething rings/ toys but other than my fingers the only thing she likes to bite on are pieces of cloth (blankets, her clothes when I'm changing her, the other day I found her chewing on the activity mat).

  • Can anyone like this sofie I keep reading about?

LO has the red checks, loves my fingers, her hands, or toys to chew on. Tylenol at night helps. I can feel 2 numbs in the bottom, but really Just waiting.
  • We popped our 1st tooth this week. Sophie, Tylenol and diluted clove oil on gums have been our saving grace.

  • Saw a suggestion on FB today to squeeze the air out of a paci, then submerge in clean water n let the nipple fill up, then freeze. Once frozen, baby can suck/gum away on the paci. Dunno if it works, but in theory it sounds good. Prob better for early teething as to not chew the paci to shreds?
  • M has been drooling and chomping on anything for the last two months. Honestly it could happen anytime. We have infant Tylenol and frozen teething rings. Put right now she prefers a wet rag and her fingers and her Sophie.
  • LO loves this teether at daycare and I'm getting it for her for Christmas.  It mimics their little fingers :)

  • E had the two teeth in middle on bottom come through in the last week or so. At first he seemed fine, but the last two days he has been super cranky and obviously in pain. We give him Sophie, nuby (spelling?) teethers and wet cloths but nothing seems to offer much relief. Our fingers are his favorite but that's pretty painful as those teeth are sharp!
  • Teething is a bitch. The girls have been teething for 2 months now and the f*(ckers go up and down and won't pop through. Ugh! V's bottom right fiiiinally cut through a baby bit, and that was a rough day!

We give half a dose of Tylenol when they wake up and before bed. When she was actively cutting the tooth I gave her the other half dose (so full dose by that point) and the Hyland teething tabs. It feels better for them if you rub their gums.

I think a lot of the teething toys are hit or miss and you just got to try a bunch of stuff to see what works for them. Hang in there mama!

  • DS started REALLY early with the teething - 3 months (eek!) and now has 5 little white nubs in his mouth.  He has a couple of toys, but mainly he just likes to have his gums rubbed and bite stuff. He has a Sophie that seems to keep him good for a little while.  MD ok'd Tylenol before bed to take the edge off - otherwise he just can't get to sleep.  Orajel didn't touch him.  He likes frozen breastmilk to gnaw on (I put a little frozen cube into a feeder net and let him have at it), which he likes from time to time.

  • Baby started teething at 3 months and we've tried everything. Her bottom 2 are up and the definite favorite is the baby banana training toothbrush. There are handles on each side which are really easy for her to hold and the "bristles" are rubber and massagey. It is her go to chewy.

  • We use big carrot sticks or celery. He can't get anything off and loves to knaw on them, so probably only helpful for the babies that don't have other teeth yet. We haven't had any actually pop thru yet.
  • DD had the two bottom pop up while we were on vacation last week. She's a finger/knuckle chewer too but we got her this First Years teether she seems to like (LINK). She doesn't really like her regular teethers or keys, so it's this or a damp washcloth. I think the traditional teethers are kind of hard and might make her gums even more tender. :(

  • I tried frozen peas in and DS loved gnawing on them. The only downfall was after 10-15 minutes of serious chomping they were thawed. It held his interest longer than anything else. I am going to try an ice cube in a mesh feeder and see how that goes (got that tip off of an amazon.com review)
