Each year my parents have a XMas Eve drop in party. Some years it ends up more low key and other years can get 50+ people stop by throughout the night. I know everyone coming will be very excited to see and possibly even hold the baby. I'm very comfortable letting other people hold her, even without me being right there, but thinking about all those people and her possibly being passed around makes me nervous.
How have you handled large social gatherings with a baby? I was thinking I could wear her in the Ergo and/or tell my parents to only let immediate family hold her. I know they would be the biggest culprits in passing her around only because they want to show everyone how adorable she is. Also, would you recommend taking her to a quiet room every so often throughout the night to help reduce stimulation?
Re: Social Gatherings and baby
Are you nursing? If so, if she starts to get fussy or you get uncomfortable with passing her around, take her to a private room to "nurse" even if she doesn't need to and calm her down and get her back in the baby carrier.
I think you should do what makes you comfortable, but I wouldn't overthink it.
