Dumb question re: advent calendars

Do you start at 24 and count down, or do you start at 1 since today is the 1st? I never remember. We just opened Ethan's lego advent calendar, and I have a feeling I pick the wrong one (24). The prize is pretty good for so early.

Usually you start at 1, but since you did 24 today, I'd just go backward this year.

So we ended up putting the cool toy back and opening door 1. That way we're doing it in the right order (I have a feeling since it's a lego set that there's an order for a reason), and Ethan was thrilled he got to do two today
