Hello ladies... Since all of you already have their babies i would like some advice in some of the items you packed n needed for your hospital diaper bag ... Idk what to expect since its my first baby :-?
I brought things for myself, my own shampoo, soap, toothbrush/paste. I even brought my own pj's but ended up staying in hospital gowns since it was easier to keep my own pj's clean! I brought a comfortable yoga pants and top to wear leaving the hosptial. For the baby. I brought 2 outfits one newborn size and the other was 0 to 3 mths. Since there is no way to know what fits. (only put clothes on when we were leaving). We packed a swaddle blanket to use to cover the baby in the car seat. We also brought a warm blanket to wrap around the car seat. We didn't buy diapers until we knew what size would fit. My advice would be to check what the hospital provides and what they suggest you pack for the baby.
Why not? Sure it's one more bag to carry but it's so exciting for a first time mom! I took mine! With 2 comfy outfits for LO (NB and 0-3 size), a hat and a blanket. The rest of the stuff you pack is for yourself and I think the first response answered that well! don't count on being in your pre preggo clothes when you leave, unless you're one of the lucky ones. I looked 6 months pregnant when I left the hospital and was so thankful for my comfy lounge pants that I had packed for the trip home! good luck!
I brought enough stuff to live there a week and used almost none of it! We were too tired to mess with putting baby in outfits until we dressed him to go home. They provide diapers so if you bring them it's for an emergency blow out on the way home. We live 15 min away from the hospital so there was no stopping to check. I'd suggest a going home outfit, few diapers, wipes, receiving blanket, hat, mittens for baby and that's about it. For you mini size face wash, body wash, comfy yoga pants, nursing tank tops and going home comfy outfit for yourself. Congrats!
As PP's have said the hospital will provide almost everything for you and LO. Some things I found helpful were nursing tanks, comfy pants, and nipple butter (if you are BFing invest in some good stuff...I used Earth Momma brand), the hospital will provide you with some, but it sucks!
I brought a Manila envelope for all paperwork as well as a pillow from home because flat hospital pillows don't cut it for me. And it's always exciting to pack the diaper bag so even if you don't need it, pack it however you want. But a going home outfit is all we needed and I packed like we were going out for the day
