The worst holiday gift I've received was a folder with pictures of ham on it. I also got a Three Stooges VHS.
They were from my dad when I was 6. My parents were divorced and my dad clearly did the shopping on his own. I hated the Three Stooges, so basically he bought himself a movie and used me as an excuse.
I was too young to understand that my dad acted funny because he was an alcoholic, so I was always super protective of his feelings back then. I hated seeing him emotional. I acted like I loved the gift and spent the night watching that dumb movie with him while I held on to my folder. Ugh.
One grandma always manages to get me the worst clothes/gifts. They are either second hand (which I have no problem with) and not in good condition or about 5+ years too young for me. When I was 12, she got me a pink and blue jewelery box that had dinosaurs on it. The next year, a thrift store knitted sweater with obnoxious flowers all over. MIL is a very close second. Random wallets, a large (bright orange) candy dish, character socks.

This guy I dated in high school gave me a bag of things that looked like he walked through Walmart just picking shit up. A book, a calendar, and a remote control car because i like mustangs. The worst part is I must've told him a million times what I wanted for Christmas. I bought him this game consol he wanted and he couldn't be bothered to spend more than 10 minutes on me. Hence why he's a ex boyfriend! Haha
When I was a kid my former stepmom gave me a really horrible blue jean jacket that she had sewn a bunch of crap to-- buttons, beads, an iron-on rainbow patch. Worst part was I got busted for looking horrified when I pulled it out of the box.
Oh, just the year my then-12 year old brother got a digital camera (which were expensive in 2004!) from my grandparents and they gave me a day planner. For the previous year.

My grandma always buys gifts for us that she finds in local stores while she is traveling. One year I got a small purse that had cat faces all over it. The cats had sequined eyes. Initially I was able to fake it, say thank you and put it away quickly. Then my cousin opened up her present from my grandma. It was a really cute Vera Bradley bag. I was in such disbelief I started to laugh and cry. I still see that purse today because one of my moms friends took it because she thought it was adorable.
My ex-husband's parents got him a full gaming system with all the "extras" one year for Christmas. I got a candle and a sweatshirt with a built in collar decorated with cat faces. He couldn't understand why I was upset.
These are cracking me up. I'm having a hard time coming up with a bad gift. The "worst" I can think of is that when I was little my uncle always got me "boy" toys i.e. remote control cars and things like that. Usually I thought they were pretty cool and my brother and I spent lots of time racing them.
When I was in college, someone slipped an empty Walmart gift card into my stocking. I suspect one of my younger siblings. I think the original total was still written on the back. Fifty bucks, I think. I was broke and tried to buy groceries with it. Of course, there was no money on it. And did I mention I was broke? I had zero dollars to spend. I had to leave all of my bagged groceries at the checkout and walk out empty handed and so embarrassed. I bawled in my car while calling home to tell my mom what had happened and to bring the fury down on my siblings. No one ever confessed.
When I was 23, my now ex-boyfriend gave me an embroidered towel for Christmas (and just the towel). That his mother did. He didn't even pick out the design that was embroidered on.

The only year gifts were exchanged with my exILs, I gave them a handmade wreath with tiny stockings (each family member had one w/ name and design cross stitched on it) hanging from it. exH got nice clothes, and I got a bath tub plug and socks.
Not a holiday gift, but when I was turning 14, my dad gave me a Lamb Chop stuffed animal and a coloring book. I used to watch the show when I was little, but NOT an appropriate gift for a 14 year old. I was so embarrassed.

…...about five years after they stopped being cool.
I thanked her politely, then went to my room, opened the box, and broke both legs off.
