Success after IF

Welcome back old friend...

Oh AF. How I have missed you. You have only shown your ugly face once in the past 3 years. And you visited so very sporadically before that. I'm so glad that you chose to drop in on a Monday after a holiday, while I'm at work, wearing white, and totally unprepared. Awesome.

Anyone else want to whine on this fine Monday morning? Who else has a case of the grumps?

  • I have a case of the grumps. I hate my job. Specifically the people I work with. I have this "team lead" who is pure evil.  She treats me like I am 12. Offenses include taking the day before T-Giving off, but leaving herself signed onto our instant messenger ALL day, undoubtedly to make sure I did not duck out a minute early (while others on my team helped themselves to a noon dismissal, the way it should be before a holiday)..... I block my calendar every day at 4:30 because I do daycare pickup. She clearly does not approve and this morning I came in to a meeting invite for 4:30 on Thursday - I proposed 10:30 on Wednesday instead and she came back with 4:00 on Friday.  If she thinks these antics are lost on me she could not be more wrong. And I'm REALLY stuggling with this today because I am currently in the midst of a fresh IVF cycle and don't want to tell her. The reason I don't want to tell her is because I know she will look at this as a choice I am making and not a medical necessity. But I don't know how else to explain to her that my schedule is up in the air, and subject to change the next two weeks. I"m so bitter about this.

  • @TJ1979‌ that inconsiderate b!tch!
@JBDamonM‌ what a nasty b!tch! I'm sorry you have to deal with someone like her. I don't blame you keeping IVF quiet. Do you HAVE to tell her anything? Can you just say you have medically necessary appointments that cannot be rescheduled and that you are not discussing it further?

As for me, dh's schedule got changed and he is losing his flexible hours :( he now has to work every night until 10:30, so no family dinners or help with bedtime... There is a chance he can change his schedule in January, but until then.... :(

  • @jbdamonm I'm so sorry!  I was in a crummy work situation like that a few years ago, and it really does ruin your life.  I mean, not permanently, but it makes everything suck all the time.  Can you find something else?  Haven't you been looking?  Oh, and my cube-neighbor does the gum thing too.  It's like nails on a chalkboard.

@kmc84 Oh no!  It is so hard when MH can't be around for dinner and bedtime routine.  Especially as I was getting further along in my pregnancy, and with a newborn.  I hope YH can get his schedule fixed soon.  And until then, you just take it easy.  Do what has to be done, but let the little stuff slide till the weekends when you have more time, and he can (theoretically) help.  You will be in my thoughts.

  • @TJ1979 - I just started this job in March. It is with the company I wanted to be with, but honestly she is so horrible that all of the perks to this company (like flexibility and work/life balance) seem to have gone out the window. I really want to lose my mind. it is runing my life because my husband and I fight constantly when I vent, which is clearly all the time.  Here's another example - I was talking to her on Tuesday about the snow storm that hit Wednesday. And I told her how I had told my husband I was going to have to go to the grocery store after I put Molly to bed that night...because I didn't want to have to deal with the snow on Wed." She says "Well you are working tomorrow, so it wouldn't be until the evening anyways." Seriously???? I don't mean to toot my own horn, but this is a managerial level position, not entry level. It's simply unacceptable to talk to someone like this as far as I am concerned.

  • @TJ1979‌ - that stinks! AF sucks in general but this timing is horrible! @JBDamonM‌ - I wouldn't blame you for losing your mind, how terrible to deal with daily. Oh and gum boy needs to go, that's one of the worst noises in the world. Mine isn't necessarily grumps but more dumps. We had to put down our family dog this weekend and it was so incredibly hard. DH was so upset (she was his dog from high school) and coming back home yesterday without her sent me over the edge. My beagle has been laying everywhere she did and not moving much. So far, H hasn't seemed to notice. Sorry for formatting, on the iPad.

I am cranky because people are taking me for granted at work and assuming I can do things in feb when I am trying to free my schedule to travel for IVF. Also I am cranky that we still have rats in our basement and the exterminator doesn't know what else to do and I no longer spend time with DH as a result as he is willing to watch tv down there and I am not.

  • @mnj05 I'm so sorry about your dog.  Losing a beloved family pet is so hard.  Our nanny just texted and let me know she can't find our elderly cat, whom MH has had for 15 years.  We might be in the same boat soon.  Hugs.

@chiwifey Sorry about the caffeine headaches, I hate those!  If it will help, I'll drink a second cup of coffee for you today.  ;)

@mdiblasi10 Aww, poor G.  I know the schedule changes are hard.  I probably would have had a meltdown in my driveway too yesterday morning if I thought it would help.  I know it's not normal for him to behave that way, so I know that makes it extra hard on you.  Hope he's feeling better today.  Hey -- is he potty training at all?

@kaf7 I hate being taken advantage of at work!  Just because I am able to actually do my work on time, and do it well, other peoples' work keeps getting handed to me.  I call shenanigans!  And yikes about the rats!  When the exterminator can't fix it, I say it's time to move.  Haha.

@richzep I am a planner too, so that would drive me insane!!  GL on this cycle, hopefully your clinic can get it together and get you a take home baby!

AFM... I'm feeling a bit better today... except that I just remembered how AF can tank your supply.  And I was doing so well.  Sigh.  Does it usually come back to normal after AF, or do I need to start on the teas and such?

  • @TJ1979 FWIW, I had AF back only a few months PP and it didn't seem to affect my supply at all. It was pretty annoying though as everyone else I knew who breastfed didn't see AF until they weaned. Lucky me, ha! As for potty training, we are trying. He was very excited about it around 18 months, but not so much now. He has a couple potty seats in the house and we offer for him to use them or to sit on the big toilet. But we do not force him, so if he says no then it's no. They do the same at school. I am thinking about buying a few pairs of underwear to see if he is willing to wear them. Again, not forcing it and not in a rush, but if he does want to wear them and they encourage him to potty in the toilet, I figure it may help. I am perfectly fine with waiting until he is ready, and so is DH and his school. How about E? I hear girls are much easier with it.

  • @luvboston our compost is the only thing outside and it's about 400m from the house. They are coming in by our electrical panel and where part of the deck is rotting. We have caught 3 but there is at least one still making a nightly appearance in our basement ceiling. The place is full of traps and poison but "ratatron" isn't falling for any of it. I will investigate peppermint oil and snake poop. Thanks.

@mdiblasi10 I didn't think it affected my supply the first day, but yesterday was really bad.  I went ahead and started with the tea and flax and brewer's yeast.  I also haven't been drinking enough water.  So I'll go ahead and start on all that.
E did the same, where she was super excited about the potty for a while, then suddenly got very anti-potty.  But she is now on week 2 of being in diapers during the day (except naps.)  She has been having poo accidents, but no pee accidents.  The panties were a huge hit with E.  We got her Dora ones, then when she finally went poo on the potty for the first time, she got doc mcstuffins panties.  Now, just because we are cheap, she is using her bloomers from old dresses as panties.  (It was her idea... she REALLY wanted the "yellow panties."  I would say offer G the undies and see how he feels.  We are also really going with the no pressure thing.  Especially with your little girl on the way.  Everyone told us that E would regress when #2 was born, so we waited.
Anyway.  I was just curious.  I've heard the same thing, that boys are more difficult.  GL with it.  Oh, and I think of G every time we try to play with E's balance bike.  She just doesn't get it, haha.  I wish she could watch G do it!

@TJ1979 So I happened to be at Target yesterday and they had Thomas (!!!!!) undies so I bought them. He loved them, of course, because they have trains all over them. He wanted to put them on so we did and reminded him about going potty on the toilet since he had undies on. He peed in them twice, on the carpet lol. I wasn't expecting them to work miracles, but it made me laugh because he couldn't care less. We'll keep trying :) I heard the same about a new baby making them regress. It happened to my friend when #2 came along. I figure they all potty train eventually, right?! ;)

@TJ1979 FWIW, I had AF back only a few months PP and it didn't seem to affect my supply at all. It was pretty annoying though as everyone else I knew who breastfed didn't see AF until they weaned. Lucky me, ha! As for potty training, we are trying. I knew very few guys in college who weren't potty trained @mdiblasi10.  Haha.  Did he still not care after he peed in them?  Like, it didn't bother him to feel the wet undies?  That's what bugged E the most I think.
Honestly, I was okay with E waiting, because changing diapers is so much easier than having to scramble to find potties out in public or on the road.  Plus the whole germ issue in public restrooms.  Oh jeez, I'm not cut out for this!
