Alright, i'm at 34 weeks and officially backed up! Does not feel so good! Any special foods your eating to stay regular? My usual daily banana ain't cuttin it.
I drink a ton of water, every time I feel hungry and craving carbs, I drink a large glass of water first...usually the craving isn't as intense after (thirst is masked by hunger feeling) and I eat a crap load of fruit! Apples, grapes, plums, clementines...whatever I have in the house! I have also never had a problem (either time I was pregnant) so it's possible I just don't get this symptom!
I've been eating a lentil-vegetable soup about once or twice a week. I think this definitely helps, at least for me DH also made me homemade cliff bars that help clear things out (lots of seeds, nuts, dates, craisons, etc).
Every few days I have a coffee, for me it can b iced or hot, doesn't matter.. but I find if I haven't gone in a couple days I have a coffee n I'm back on track :-)
I'm having the opposite problem. I'm supposed to be taking an iron supplement because of anemia. I take it before bed and get woken up during the night with bad stomach cramps. Then I go about 10 times before work. But it's urgent. I'm afraid I'll have an accident at work!
I love aaaaalllll the citrus fruits. Fortunately they're also good for moving things along. If that doesn't work, I find a green smoothie works every time for me.
I take a probiotic every day which really seems to help. I also bought shredded wheat a few weeks ago...but make sure you remember a little goes a long way
If all else fails, my half decaf/half regular cup of coffee in the morning get things going.
I eat a cereal mix of kashi and all bran daily. I struggled with constipation for years after living abroad and getting some crazy intestinal problems. If I eat that daily and drink lots of water I have no issues at all, even when pregnant.
About halfway through my pregnancy this time I started adding a glass of metamucil as a supplement every other day or so. Slacked on that a little bit lately, but it definitely kept things moving.
Myles was so pumped about the baby . . . until he figured out he'd have to share all his toys!!! >
