Just curious to see what your experiences are regarding this.

Did your pregnancy compare or not between children of the same sex?

ETA: This is for fun, not a scientific survey.

That's not what I'm asking. I was just curious to see, if other people are having children of the same sex, yet are having very different pregnancies. I know that symptoms can vary. In my group of friends and family children of a different sex often equal different symptoms.

ETA: I know that symptoms are not indicative of sex.

  • Pretty sure every pregnancy is different, not just with different sexes.

That's actually exactly what you asked.
I don't know what to tell you. I guess my questioning is stupid. I'm so sorry. No need to make a huge deal out of this.

  • My pregnancies have been like night and day. My first was awful everyday and this one has been a breeze. They're both boys. Haha
Thank you! I have the same experience, both boys, except my first pregnancy was a breeze, and this one not so much.

  • My pregnancies are pretty darned similar (I have had really easy pregnancies so far) and the first was a boy and this lo is a girl! A friend of mine had two boys and her pregnancies were night and day. The first was sure easy, the second sucked!
  • DH's boss had two girls and said his wife had completely opposite symptoms each pregnancy.

  • My symptoms have been pretty similar.  Only difference being I had more heartburn the first time and more back pain this time.  Everything else has been the same.  Both girls.

  • This pregnancy is almost identical in symptoms with my daughter 5 years ago. I'm having a boy this go round though!

  • Both of my first pregnancies were awesome. Very uneventful, no ms, just uncomfortable toward the end. I had a girl first then a boy. This time I had horrible ms, lots of rlp, crazy cravings, and tons of eating. We don't know the sex of the baby yet but I am pretty sure there is not a third choice lol.

My gma KNOWS for sure that if you have ms, you will be having a girl because of hormones from the girl or something like that. So all you mommas who are throwing up must be having girls. CONGRATS!! haha

But only boys are born in April....
Apparently we did not get the memo, since ours is lacking a weiner. Oh well.

Did you have morning sickness?? Maybe that's the exception to the rule!!
Lol I thankfully did not. I had mild nausea if I saw/smelled certain foods but that was it. :)

  • First pregnancy was amazing. Had no symptoms and the whole time was bliss. This time around have had lots of symptoms and has been a bit tougher. Both pregnancies are boys :x. I know usually every pregnancy is different but these two are night and day.

  • @be888‌ My first and this one are both girls. Pregnancies have been very similar! People have guessed that this one is a boy because I am carrying different? I don't even see a difference. There's a bump and that's all I see.

Aw poo. My grandma is just all sorts of wrong! I mean, that's good that you didn't get sick, but my grandma's lack of perfection is going to kill her inflated ego. What a shame. Haha
    Hahaha! Sorry, Granny!

  • My first and second pregnancies were very similar. The only difference was that at the end of pregnancy I carried DS high and out, but DD lower and closer to the hips. This pregnancy is quite a lot different. Maybe I'm having a unicorn?

  • My pregnancies have been opposite. This one is a girl, the other was a boy. The old wives tale of more morning sickness with a girl did hold true for me, but it could very well be unrelated.

  • I have four girls. My pregnancies were about the same. I had MS with all. Some ended a few weeks sooner than others. Cravings have been different with each one.
  • Just for fun, my two pregnancies have been almost identical.  No morning sickness, terrible skin, swelling, growing at the same rate... and I had a girl the first time and a boy this time.  Before I knew we were having a boy, people kept telling me that since I felt the same that I would definitely be having another girl.  I thought those people were full of crap and now I know they are.  Just because you "feel" the same doesn't mean the sex will be the same.

  • I will say that since I have had a very easy pregnancy overall (no MS and mostly just tired), everyone SWORE I was having a boy. Most spouted the "your hormones clash with her hormones" theory but lo and behold...definitely a girl. As a FTM I don't have any experience, but judging by the experiences of others, I definitely think the "every pregnancy is different" mantra applies more universally than any wives' tales.

  • This is my second "boy" PG. The first I had HG, lost 15 pounds in the first tri and puked 5-8 times a day until 15 weeks. This time I was nauseated a lot, but only threw up a handful of times. Also my skin is a disaster this time around, with DS1 my skin was awesome. In both pregnancies my hair and nails have been fabulous!

  • This is my second pregnancy and with my first I was mildly nauseous the first 12 weeks, but dry heaved whenever I smelled anything strong up until the day of delivery.  I also was a great nighttime sleeper with DS and would sleep soundly (minus needing to use the bathroom) all 40 weeks. I did have pretty regular leg cramps regardless of what I ate or drank.
This pregnancy I was less nauseous, but haven't dry heaved or had a cramp. I have not slept well though and wake at 1:30 every morning and rarely can get back to decent sleep. We were told this is a girl, so I guess different pregnancy meant different sex for us.
  • My first two pregnancies were very similar and both girls.  This one has been totally different and is a boy.
  • On baby boy #3, each pregnancy has been completely different.  My first was easy, almost no MS.  Second was harder, MS, more backpain, lost 10lbs.  This one, MS into second trimester, very painful round ligament pain, lost 13lbs and haven't really gained it back yet.

Two boys here. The main similarity has been no morning sickness. I'm also starting to get insomnia which I had with my first.

Differences--My headaches lasted a lot longer into my pregnancy this time. My skin has been much clearer and my hair not nearly as oily. With my first I gained 40 lbs total and at almost 20 weeks with this one I've only gained 4-5 lbs. I was much hungrier/had more cravings with my first. I haven't had any cravings at all this time and have barely noticed an increase in appetite.

ETA: I'm also having BH, pelvic pressure, and lower back pain much earlier this time, but I think that is pretty normal for subsequent pregnancies.

I asked a legitimate question. I've seen more than one person assert that different symptoms meant different sex and was just wondering where it was coming from because it makes no sense to me.
Ohhh sorry. Guess my snarkdar is set to extra sensitive. I'm honestly surprised you haven't heard all the OWTs about symptoms/sex. Friends, family, coworkers, and randos love to discuss these things with pregnant women.
  • My first trimester was night and day from my last pregnancy. This trimester is more similar.
This ones a girl, first was a boy.
  • With my first- I had bad morning sickness and would puke almost every day until 14-15 weeks.   Had horrible acne for most of the pregnancy and tired all of the time. Also had bad heartburn at the end.   First was a girl with tons of hair.

This time around- no morning sickness, clear skin.   The majority of time I don't feel pregnant.   Only major symptom is tiredness.   Still have a few more weeks until we find out what this one is.  In a way hoping for a boy as its our last.  But know a healthy baby is more important!
