Morning sickness increasing at 10/11 weeks?

I contemplated posting this in the daily symptoms thread but since it's a question I thought it might get overlooked.
So sorry in advance about making a whole discussion out of it!

Has anyone noticed their morning sickness increasing?

I really thought I was skating through this first trimester, only having a few times feeling nauseous and no throwing up. My heart goes out to those of you who have had constant nausea... I don't know how I would function with it.
Today (10w6d) I feel just awful. I'm sitting at work and my stomach is tossing, my mouth is watering, I'm freezing  and I feel like I'm going to have to bolt to the bathroom every 5 seconds.

I thought things were supposed to start getting better as we are heading towards the end of the first trimester?
Again, my heart goes out to those of you that have been suffering through this entire pregnancy so far with it...

Re: Morning sickness increasing at 10/11 weeks?

  • I'm having twins, so I got hit hard. Mine is all day sickness though. It got worse for me at that time too. There were a few days were I could've just curled up in a ball and not moved. I'm 11w6d now, and is starting to get better again. Hang in there.

  • I'm in a similar boat. I had fairly mild nausea easily controlled by eating. Then recently (12+3 now) I started to feel super queasy after dinner and I would dry retch. And certain things have become unbearable in smells. Funny cos i was almost gliding through 1st tri.

  • Thanks for making me feel like I'm not alone @DolphinLover2002 & @leenziepops

What's really bad is my boss and the people I work with don't know I'm pregnant yet.. and it's getting harder to play off the "oh I must have ate something bad" card...

...and it's only the beginning of my work week :(

  • @amooraxo‌ ohh that sucks. Mines in the evenings making life easier...
I've had to come up with some complex lies to my gym buddies though. Knee ligament pain preventing me from doing crazy workouts. Waiting for my nose to grow from so much lying.
Hang in there!!! How much longer til you're ready to announce at work?

  • @leenziepops

I'm thinking I will announce in another month, probably right around New Years. .... IF I can make it that long! It's mid-morning and afternoons that are bad for me now... I try to keep eating small snacks and never let my stomach get empty but really nothing even sounds good right now.

We haven't told anyone outside of my mom, sister and his immediate family. I just want to make sure things are good and I am through the first trimester before we tell :) Have you told many people?

  • I had nausea through the first nine weeks but hardly any vomiting. And it's just hit me like a brick over the past week I don't even feel it coming; I've thrown up in a bin at work and whilst walking down the street. So embarrassing. Definitely not one of my finer moments. :-S
  • Yes!! I'm also having twins, I was looking forward to 12 weeks and I'm now almost 13 weeks and I feel pretty terrible.Ive already thrown up
This morning and I'm on medication from my doctor. My doctor said 10-14 weeks is usually the worst. Of course everyone and every pregnancy is different. Hope you feel better soon
  • Yup!  Mine was the worst between weeks 10 and 12, and now I'm 12 and a few days and it seems like its gone away.  Not having twins, but had a high enough HCG that multiples were suspected at first.   Yay hormones.    Having some kind hard candy always nearby was very helpful during those dry heaving moments.

  • Mine picked up at 9wks. I throw up every single day.
  • I am 13 weeks now but mine picked up late in first trimester (10ish weeks) as well to the point that I couldn't keep ginger ale down. I have found that if I take half a unisom nightly. It has helped a little. I also take Zofran when the nausea becomes too much to handle (1 pill every 2-3 days).

As far as when it stops it seems like it is different for everyone I talk to. Mine hasn't stopped yet but the medications have helped me to at least be able to eat little meals here and there. Good luck!
  • All day nausea and puking here since week six. It calmed down a bit over week 9, and then started picking up week 10 again. My doc says it's common to wax and wane a bit, usually lasting into week 13-14. Some ladies have it all pregnancy, and my heart certainly goes out to them!

  • Also, I have found the Unisom 1/2 tablet and vitamin B6 combo somewhat helpful if you and give that a try. There's lots of advice out there as far as ways to help with nausea... Just search here or Google it.

This is exactly me. I felt car sick from 5-9 weeks then pretty much as soon as I hit 9, (I'm 10w3d now) I have been throwing up every other day and have completely lost my appetite. Had to pull over on the side of the highway yesterday to yarf up an apple... The only bit of nutrients I got in yesterday :/
  • Just yes. Waking up with nausea in the middle of the night. I thought my first pregnancy was bad - morning sickness into my 2nd trimester. It's officially worse this time around.
  • Those sound like pregnancy symptoms, but they also sounds like flu symptoms. If anyone around you has been sick I'd be careful you're not overlooking a "real" sickness! Hope you feel better.

  • Mine continues to be bad (I'm 11w2d) and black Friday was the absolute worst day I have had yet. I work from home 3 days a week but didn't go in the office at all for 2 weeks bc I was so sick. Evening is the worst for me too. I thought this would all be almost over, but I am going to ask the doc for an rx when I see her this week.
  • Ugh... I feel better and worse. Better that I'm not alone but worse thinking this may continue for a while ! I will try some hard candies and may pick up some ginger candy.

  • I am 12 weeks and one day and you pretty much described my life right now!! I was feeling so good and lucky that I wasn't having any morning sickness, nausea, or vomiting. Thanksgiving was my worst day I could hardly eat! Everything is grossing me out. I really hope it passes, I don't know how much longer I can deal with feeling like this. Hats off to the ladies that have to deal with this for weeks.
  • Am 11w1d today and my symthoms have subsided a bit so i feel a bit normal, only having a bit of nausea n back ach n muscle ach. Also have got a mood most of the time.
  • @amooraxo Salt & Vinegar chips have been awesome. A really bad food choice but something about them just cures my nausea. We just spent all of yesterday sending an u/s announcement photo to family and making phone calls overseas. Once we've made sure we have forgotten any family members, we'll start telling friends. Around Christmas time I think that's when we'll post it on Facebook.

  • 10-14w was miserable for me. I'm 14w tomorrow and I think that there might be some relief in sight. @leenziepops‌ I too have found that salt and vinegar chips are wonderful for my nausea. I feel so bad most of the time that I'm not too concerned about healthy good choices. I figure that's a luxury for people who can eat normally.

  • 8 on has been miserable for me. Zofran helped me most of week 9 but then yesterday (10w3d), I was puking again. I rely on jolly ranchers to help with the dry heaving!

  • Thanks for posting. I feel less alone. I've had morning sickness since week 5. I'm 12 weeks now & it's horrendous. If I don't take zofran once a day I'm vomiting yet I try to not take it everyday cause it causes constipation. I'm basically force feeding myself. It is so hard! And I agree nutrition hasn't been my top priority. Hoping that can change & the nausea subsides with second tri.
  • I read in my Mayo Clinic book that it's often worst during the last weeks of the first trimester. It's true for me. I've been laid out all week and I'm at 10 weeks.

  • I will be 10 weeks tomorrow.. and I have had severe nausea since week 5. I am so miserable that after this child I think I have to be done for good. (This is our first child) I was hospitalized the Saturday after Thanksgiving for a virus of some kind that caused severe vomiting and Diarrhea for 15hrs straight. I was severely dehydrated and couldnt keep anything down. They gave me IV fluids and zofran and sent me home.. It is now Monday and Although the vomiting and diarrhea has stopped It hurts to eat and nothing tastes or sounds good. I am just so uncomfortable and bummed out.. Has anyone else been so sick so early on? My husband is convinced we are having twins because I have been so nauseous and tired. Ugh. Ready for June to be here.
  • @jmm018

As they say, every woman and every pregnancy is different. I have heard of ladies having a perfectly easy time one pregnancy and being so sick and miserable during another. Thoughts and prayers to you feeling better soon!

  • Feel exactly the same way! No bad morning sickness, just tired and needing to eat all the time to get rid of any nausea. Then suddenly this weekend, feel faint, so exhausted that even my arms are heavy, gone off food, have salavia mouth, feel fluey & sickie all at once. Turned 11 weeks this weekend. Go figure. Nice to hear I'm in good company.
  • Today I ate almost immediately upon waking up... just a small bowl of cereal... then was making sure I had something on my stomach every hour and was drinking a lot of water. Surprisingly I am feeling better today so hopefully it keeps up. I can't afford to miss work from being so sick...

Saltine crackers have been nice also.

  • Ugh, I guess that explains my dry heaving while helping my toddler on her little potty this morning. I thought I was doing so well with the nausea this time around too. Guess I spoke too soon. ;)

  • Your hormones will peak at 10-12wks and then start to taper off. I had to start on Zofran at 10.5wks and am now just waiting for it to start to settle down. Two weeks ago, I had to take 3 days off work to rest it was so bad. There is a light at then end of the tunnel!
  • So Sunday I was just miserable the whole day, yesterday I was fine and now again today I'm miserable.

I alternate pre-natal vitamins every other day. One of them contains Omegas and the other doesn't. I noticed when I first got the ones with Omegas that it made my stomach a little upset so I always remember to eat before and after I take it to help. Interestingly I took that prenatal on Sunday, the other one yesterday, and then again took it today. I'm wondering if it's really what's making my MS really kick up?

Maybe I should nix that prenatal until I'm out of the first trimester?
