Cloth Diapering

Newb prepping/washing questions

I've finished my newborn stash and I'm ready to start prepping, and now I have questions.

1. From what I understand, for natural fibers I wash around 5 times, no prewash needed, and only need detergent for the first 1-2 washes?

2. For regular washing, my machine has a "autosoak" option to add on to the regular cycle, is this what I should use for the first cycle? It only allows cold water. After reading other threads, I'm thinking of doing a "express wash" on warm instead. What would you recommend? (I have moderately hard water and a HE FL, if that makes a difference)

3. My machine also has a "2nd rinse" setting. If I use that with the regular main cycle, am I good to go, or do I need any additional cycles/rinses after the main wash?

4. I've decided to jump right in with Tide (albeit hesitantly) since it seems that's what everyone ends up switching to anyway. You wash all diapers using Tide, even PUL? I think I saw people recommend using up to line 1 on the scoop, is this right?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, or you could just wash them with your next few loads of sheets, towels, whites etc. if you aren't in a rush.

    2. For regular washing, my machine has a "autosoak" option to add on to the regular cycle, is this what I should use for the first cycle? It only allows cold water. I wouldn't use autosoak right now. I would do the express wash or a rinse and spin cycle of you have one.

    3. My machine also has a "2nd rinse" setting. If I use that with the regular main cycle, am I good to go, or do I need any additional cycles/rinses after the main wash?
I use the extra rinse option on my normal wash cycle and it works fine for me. I'd try it, and change later if it doesn't work.

    4. I've decided to jump right in with Tide (albeit hesitantly) since it seems that's what everyone ends up switching to anyway. You wash all diapers using Tide, even PUL? I think I saw people recommend using up to line 1 on the scoop, is this right?
Yep, all diapers, to the 1 line.

    Thanks for your help!
