Elf on the shelf

For those of you who partake in this childhood mindfuck, don't forget to put your elf out tonight.

I was just about to go to bed and realized "Chip" wasn't out and I've been talking him up ALL WEEK.

    He's creepy as all hell but it's like borderline criminal if kids don't have one over here.

    I'm doing it. But I plan to start on December 1st. My plan is to have the elf holding onto some helium balloons and his letter from Santa. The balloons will be tied to her playmobil Santa's workshop advent calendar. Let's see how much I'm doing with it 2 weeks from now lol.

    Thanks for reminding me of the advent calendars!!! Have to find them.

    I don't go all out with the crazy set-ups. I absolutely don't have the energy nor the desire to take it to that level. But 90% of my FB friends who have kids do.

    I just move the guy to a new place. The kids really get excited to find him in the morning. And they really DO behave better and help out more. The little bugger works on them.

    I had resisted for a few years but they had one in her kindergarten class last year. So we got the stuffed cute version and play by our own rules. The real one is too freaky looking for me. 
    We had fun with Elsa the Elf last year and DD1 who is 6 really loves it. Some nights we do easy little set ups. Other nights it will be a quick move.

    Our elf showed up this morning, this is now the 3rd year we've had him and everytime he comes back I hate H a little for buying him and making me think of places to hide him. Today he was in the christmas stockings we hung for decoration last night while putting up the tree.
