My kids are at my mom's until tomorrow when DH and I will be joining them. I was thinking about getting all my Christmas stuff out and starting to decorate but then I realized we are gone a good chunk of December, and during Christmas, and the entire week after Christmas. Now I'm thinking I'll just do the bare minimum. Is this bad?

Nope! We put up our tree today. Besides that, I'm going to put something nice on our formal dining room table and garland and stockings on our mantle. In terms of the decorations that I have, approximately 75% will not be out.

I love decorating and hate putting it all away so if you are barely going to be home to enjoy it, I say keep it minimum. Maybe just do the tree. I am hosting Christmas so I went all out, but if i was not, I would not be putting everything out.

Keep it simple! I would the girls that I stead of focusing on decorating the house this year you're going to focus on decorating cookies with them. Nobody can complain about that!

I'm only doing wreaths/garland/stockings for sure. Trying to figure out where to put a tree (first year in this apt), and whether rearranging furniture is worth it when we're leaving to go to my mom's on the 19th anyway. I feel ya.
I think next year, DD will "get it" more, so maybe there will be more decorating to do?

Thanks you guys! I decided to do the tree, stockings, and a few other small things. My kids are old enough that they would be disappointed with no tree and I'm not that scroogey!
