Ya we have gas now I just didn't know if there was any good reason to switch! I think the only reason is when we moved in there was stuff caked to the burners plates (not sure what they are called) and around the actual burners. That I have done everything to try and get them clean so I think that's why I am questioning switching
I hate gas stoves. In my first apartment, there was something wrong with mine (can't remember) and it started a fire. I was smart enough to turn the stove off before running out of the place. Now whenever I smell that sulfur gas smell, I panic a little. That obviously doesn't happen to everyone. I also hated how hard they are to clean, and the temp is too hard to control for my liking.

Gas! We had electric for 4 years after we bought a house and I tap danced when we replaced it. It's just easier to cook IMO with gas, as a PP said...better temp control.
Tough one. Gas cooks more even but flat top electric are so much easier to clean. My gas range at our old house never looked clean no matter what I did
DH likes electric because it's cleaner looking but I like gas because everyone is doing it (so bad when I put it that way). If we got an electric stove, we'd still have put in the gas outlet to give potential buyers options.

Exactly what I hate about ours now. Guess I'll just try to be a clean freak when it comes to my new range and hope it won't look like this one did. Thanks for all the input ladies!

I have found the opposite to be true for me. I hate how delicate the flat tops can be.
Gas for sure. I can't cook anything on electric, I always end up burning it all. I've heard lots of good things about induction cooktops but have never tried one.

Smooth-top electric. I had a gas at my old house and sold it for an elec. I didn't like that it cooked SUPER fast. Maybe I just couldn't get used to it.... We also liked the extra 'counter space' that the smooth top gave us.
My mom is a KILLER cook, and she doesn't like gas either.
@bunnanie you should appreciate this... I'm on vacation at my mom's, it appears she only owns one skillet, it's cast iron and she has an electric stove. Needless to say my attempt at making over-easy eggs for lunch was a complete disaster!

@bunannie I went the other way, grew up with gas but ended up with electric when I moved in with DH. It took a loooooong time to figure out how to get meat cooked the way I want it on the stove top. And I've switched to a separate griddle for pancakes because that is still a PITA.

When the power goes out, you can still use it by lighting it with a match. With an electric, you're just screwed when the power goes out.
