in January 2015 Moms
My MIL and my SIL both have now, on separate occasions today, told me they'd like me to go into labor today so that we can't leave to go home and they can see the baby. At 31w 6d, this would be a very bad idea and I reminded them of that... Wow, I'm not laughing. Prayers to all the little January babies born already, or about to be born.

    Selfish & selfish... yes we all want to meet our LO's soon but seriously, they can stay put as long as they need to! Sorry you have to put up with those mentalities. When do you go home?

    I wish they were, but no. MIL even referenced her niece who was born 3 months early (according to her) and was only 3lbs, and how she was just fine! I told her a 28 week baby would be half that size, and maybe the dates were wrong. But still... That is kind of beyond the point.

    I can't imagine they wish for your baby any health problems, so they can see your baby. I know you said they weren't joking, but um, maybe they actually were?

    Sometimes we wish for things that we aren't really knowledgeable about. I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. All their wishing in the world really has no impact as to when you go into labor. I would just shrug it off to eager ignorance.

    That is insane. My SIL said that about my DD. She said she hopes she is born a month early so they can have the same birthday. Um, excuse me?!

    I am hoping that what they really meant was simply, "We wish you were further along so we could all be there to support you when baby gets here." I agree they didn't use the best words but maybe don't read too much into and let it slide. Just focus on growing your healthy beautiful baby! :)

    Haha, now let's not go that far!

    Thanks ladies, I love the support here. We're traveling home now. Distance always helps me forget these unfortunate things! They can say the weirdest things about my kids' allergies too.

    Major fail on their part. I don't know how it is where you live, but here, only me and T are allowed in the NICU to see them. The only reason my aunt has seen the girls is because she is my photographer and they let her in there to take pictures. So they wouldn't see them anyway. Selfish. Doesn't it just make you want to punch them? I do hope they were joking, but it still pisses me off.

    @BriannaCaitlin‌, I know what you're saying. Some very good friends of ours had their daughter at 28 weeks. It's not a joke. We got to go in and see her once, but kids are never allowed and we had to completely scrub down. I wouldn't wish a nicu stay on anyone's baby. :( I realize my IL's feel like they're missing a lot because we live far away but they don't think about the consequences before they speak. MIL openly admits she doesn't say no. I had to discipline both my kids and my nephew while I was there and it wasn't even yelling or anything. Just a simple, no you can't have/do that. My nephew didn't even throw a tantrum when I told him no this time, kindergarten has been good for him! I used to wish we lived closer, but seeing how he's been affected by her grandparenting (she watched him everyday until he started school) has made me glad we don't.

    People are so special when it comes to pregnant women. i've gotten a few comments like that already. The best was "I hope the baby comes on andy and Tea's birthday" Dh and dd share a birthday (nov 22) Yeah no, as miserable as I am I'd rather not have a nicu baby. People are dumb.
