What are you getting your dad for Christmas?

I always wait until the day before I see my dad for Christmas to get him something. I try every year to come up with something great and fail every year. I see him only a handful of times a year and really have no clue what he is into or what he likes or anything like that. He texts me asking for suggestions for the kids and then gets them exactly what I suggest. I hate to go the gift card route because that's usually what he gets for us and it just feels like a card exchange. He also gets us little 'filler' gifts but seems like random stuff he just picked up. (We got the same spatula 2 years in a row, we usually get one of those body wash sets) Suggestions? Is there some generic dad idea out there I haven't gone with yet?

Does he like sports...? You could get a ball cap or t-shirt from his favorite team.

I usually buy my dad a book or a sweater.

this year I am getting my dad pajamas, a robe, and new slippers... not great but it is something that he will use. In the past I have gotten him a new cordless drill, jeans, flannel shirts, snow boots, a custom belt buckle (my family shows western pleasure horses).

This year I'm getting my dad some craft beer. He is a big fan so I try to find something he hopefully hasn't tried yet. He's also a big fan of golf so that's a go to when I am idea-less.

I'm getting my dad an attachment for his cuisine art mixer, he really wants the meat grinder one. He's a chef so most of his gifts revolve around the kitchen. In the past I've also gotten him movies or books.
