  The diapers have the liner between his skin and the snaps, right? If it's just pressure from laying on the snaps, would putting a layer or two of fabric in the pocket by the snaps cushion the snaps?

  It's not from the snaps, just in that area. More of a larger red spot on his lower abdomen.
  
  I'll have to pay attention today to how long it sticks around for. The more I think about it, the more I think it's probably just from rubbing funny or something and not really a big deal.

  My son would get red and puffy in 4.0's and freetimes, only in the front as well. It went away after using elementals or a best bottoms with hemp inserts.
