Since being pregnant I have woken frequently in the night (as I'm sure most of you do) but not just because baby is sitting on my bladder and I'm desperate to pee!
2-3 times a week I wake from a deep sleep utterly confused and disorientated. It is very difficult to describe but it's almost like a total failure for me to grasp reality. I'm not totally 'with it' even though my eyes are open and I'm talking/ acting normally. I can never remember what I've been dreaming about and often need my partner to remind me where we are and that it's only us in the room. My mind often gets confused and thinks I'm at work even know I KNOW that I'm not...
A few times I have woken up screaming and last night I woke up to a full on panic attack and then vomited for the first time in my entire pregnancy. I felt totally fine afterwards.
Have any of you experienced this? Not sure if it's just hormones wrecking havoc or I should seek psychological help.
Thank you!
Re: Sleep disturbances/ night terrors... Anyone?
Stress during the day is thought to be a possible cause, so de-stressing if possible may help. I get terrible nightmares due to PTSD, and not watching scary/creepy TV or reading supernatural books has really reduced the frequency. Being a religious person, prayer has helped a lot too. However, a mental health professional would be your best bet for figuring out what's going on and what can be done to get you some relief.
Last night I dreamt that my ex bf of 10 years ago was the father of my baby. I was married and my husband was totally ok with it. LOL

Since getting pregnant, my dreams are definitely super weird. I have woken up -- several times -- drenched in sweat after a particularly odd / disturbing dream.
Most of my dreams are centered around anxious thoughts that I don't share with others (Example(s): I dreamt LO was born super premature and I dreamt of miscarriages). It's my anxiousness coming out in my dreams.
I, too, try to watch something lighthearted on TV before falling asleep. It usually helps.

I agree that watching funny TV before bed helps- Friends is a winner!
