recommendations for pooping

DS is 3 yrs. 4 mos. He is doing fine peeing on potty. He pooped on it once but hasn't since. He asks for a diaper and so far we would just put one on him so he could poop. Otherwise he holds it. I have been telling him we are almost out of diapers and I am not buying more. How do I encourage him to go? I know this can be common but don't want to drag it out and afraid if I don't offer the diaper for poop we will have bigger issues. A friend of mine has a son who will hold it for days and has been getting sick,etc. due to it.

    lol to poop party. I have heard of this fear before but thanks for reiterating it. I haven't tried dumping his poop but I think I will try. Of course this week he has had loose stools so probably not the best idea right now. lol

    I would like mine to stop pooping in her panties.  She's not holding it, she's just not going to the potty.  She's done poop in the potty a few times and we celebrate the living daylights out of it.  I am tired of washing poop out of panties
