Cloth Diapering

Honest and cloth diapers

Hi! I am due in March with my first and am very excited to cloth diaper. I have a honest company subscription and was just wondering about some of their products and cloth diapering. Is the diaper cream safe for cloth diapers? I have lurked and read that a lot of people use toed for their cloth laundry. Has anyone used honest laundry pods? Is this safe for cloth? Or should I invest in a cloth diaper laundry detergent? I have also seen they have some kind of diaper spray. Has anyone used this? Would it be good to use with cloth wipes?

Thanks for listening to my novel!

Many moms on here use *powdered* Tide. It's very economical, and does a great job in most situations.
Most diaper creams are not safe for cloth. Coconut oil is a popular alternative.
I don't use cloth wipes, but many people like them.
You have to try different things to figure out what works best for you and your baby.

    ETA: clarify

  • I would not use the honest balm with your cloth.  I don't know about the laundry pods, but there are probably much better options out there that will cost you less.

  • I second the powdered tide! Also, we use cloth wipes but just spray water on them.

  • Thanks for the feedback. Is there a fragrance free powdered tide that everyone prefers?

If you want to avoid fragrances, you are probably better off going with one of the CD-safe detergents. There are lots to choose from. Charlie's, Country Save, Nellie's, Allens, Tiny Bubbles, etc.

Just be aware that if you have hard water, in some cases some of these don't have as much softener built in to them as some mainstream detergents, so depending on your water quality you would either need to use a larger amount of detergent or add a water softener.

We use this Tide, filled to the 1 line for a full load.
