Gums bleeding when I woke up

I woke up this morning and my gums had be bleeding during the night.  DH noticed it when he kissed me good morning and I was smiling back at him.  WTH? My gums have been sensitive when brushing, but this is above and beyond.

Re: Gums bleeding when I woke up

  • Gingivitis is common during pg. My gums were swollen during Christmas. It went away. Just floss and brush everyday and you should be fine (not like we don't do that now, but extra flossing always helps).

  • how often do you floss?

you should be flossing more now that you're pregnant.

    probably not often enough.

  • mine have been getting pretty bad too. ive started flossing two times a day...and using antiseptic mouthwash...its helping
  • I used to be a dental assistant and we always advised people to start off doing it three times a week until it was habit (takes about 2 weeks to make something a habit), then slowly doing it everyday.

Not to get on a soapbox, but not flossing is linked to a lot of diseases (like heart disease), and our gums are a lot worse off when we're pregnant.

so get on it lady!  It'll only be sore for a couple of days!

  • Mine tend to bleed every couple of days when brushing. I think it is fairly common.
