2nd Trimester

Lurker making an introduction

Hello all bumpies... My name is Amy, and I have been married for 5 years. We are pregnant with our first due at the end of May. Everything has gone smoothly relatively speaking, but I don't feel like myself at all. I have been nauseous and exhausted. I'm excited for the baby but kind of depressed with how I physically. I did not expect pregnancy to be this bad. After reading the boards I think I have been pretty naive though. I never do any of the things I enjoy anymore and am much too lazy. It's quite an adjustment for my husband bc I have not been keeping up with housework and cooking etc. I also used to be so dedicated to my job as a teacher but I barely care now. All I care about is my baby not someone elses. gosh this is a rant.... Anyways Im looking forward to connecting with others on this adventure and appreciate any feedback. I am feeling like a less than stellar version of myself at the moment but guess pregnancy has a way of doing that you.

  • Thanks ornery mama... I think most people who feel like I do tend not to broadcast it... Pregnancy is soooo celebrated in our society. It would be sort of culturally unacceptable I think for women to be so openedly negative about their pregnancies. I want this baby but not this pregnancy! I feel a slight resentment to those without morning sickness cramps etc, but suspect they might not be truthful about how they really feel. Congrats to you too.. It looks like you don't have that much further to go either!!!

  • 14 weeks today... I still have to set up my ticker. I agree with you how you parent matters more.. I hope I return to my normal state of mind once baby arrive.
  • 1. I love your user name. Lol pigs are one of my favorite animals.

    2. Don't feel bad about how you feel. I was sick from 7-15 weeks. My household felt like it was crumbling, but my husband has been a saint. I finally feel better and enjoy cooking and most of the cleaning finally. It will hopefully get better for you.

No one every really talks about the ugly side of pregnancy. It's hard and sometimes just really fucking sucky. The pain, the sickness, the lack of motivation... i hear it. It's really about the end result honestly.

My biggest advice would to be to read your books, do what you need to do, and ask questions to your mw/doc. We're definitely here to give opinions and advice and even just bitch and moan, but the more educated you make yourself, i think the better you will feel bc you will be more prepared.

Good luck! I only pop into the 2nd tri boards from time to time but I'm grom April 15 on the bmb.
