Re: Important Holiday Poll

  • Real tree... but we don't cut it down.  We go to a Christmas Tree Stand nearby.  My father had a Christmas Tree stand for years and years.  I miss it!

Maybe we'll go cut one down when LO's old enough to participate.

  • I hate real pine trees. I always got horrible rashes after decorating when I was little. Fake pre-lit for me!
  • Loading the player...
  • Fake tree and a menorah here. Once DS gets older, I'm hoping to start the tradition of cutting down a really tree every year.
    DS born 6/2/14 #2 due 5/31/16

  • I put SS. We have a fake tree, but not because we don't have time. It was a gift and right now free is an important decision in my doings. I'd much rather have real.

    Married DH 7/30/11

    CSC arrived 5/7/12

    CHC arrived 6/2/14

  • No tree - because I have a toddler and too many other battles to deal with

    Married to DH 10.29.11

    DD born 1.26.13
    DS born 6.12.14
    #3 due 12.6.16

  • I just got a fake one because I want to keep it up longer and not be cleaning up pine needles. I got a pre-lit but will be adding more because I'm a light whore.

  • Aww @BrightEyes112‌ , it's so cute. I like ugly trees, the Charlie Brown trees, they are so endearing! I don't think that the perfect ones stick out or get brought up in our memories as much. You still remember a specific tree from 2006, I think that is cool and nostalgic.
  • My household literally will try to get out of putting up our tree every year. We let DS1 decide if we are going to put it up. We prob will this year, being DS2s first Xmas. It's tough with all of LOs baby stuff spilling in the living room area. It's also always fake. We did a real one one year, it was a PITA.

We are going to cut one down next weekend but it will end up in our downstairs "game room" (extra bedroom with a TV). Our cat is an asshole and I tried every trick in the book last year but he still wanted to eat it

Edited because swype never gets what I am trying to type. I feel like I edit all my posts maybe I should proof read better

  • Real tree because dh is into that. If it was up to me, we'd go fake pre-lit.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

    @snuff9861‌ you must post a picture. ;)
  • We have a fantastic pink tree (obviously fake)...with 2 boys in the house now, I'm thinking it'll have to go in a few years :( I love the fake trees though.

  • Menorah. I'm really excited to see LO's reaction to our flickering light electric one we have for our window.

Being with my LO rocks! DD born 6/13/14.

  • We actually have 2 tree's. A large fake one in the family room, and then we put a 6ft small tree in the front living room. I can't not have a real tree, it would kill me! Can't wait to decorate them!

  • Definitely real. My parents got a fake tree one year growing up while we were staying in a tiny rental house during a major construction project  and I was SO SAD. I vowed to never get a fake tree for my own house.

  • Fake because I get super allergic to real ones... no one wants to be extra sneezy at Christmas.
  • Fake for us. I really want to get a real one, but our a-hole cats destroy the fake ones badly enough (we are on our 3rd in as many years because of those jerks) and I fear what they would do to a real one (I am picturing our floors buckling from water being spilled everywhere...). I also heard they could get sick and/or die if they drink the tree water. Not sure how true that is, but aint nobody got time for that.

  • fake one with lights - I would love to have a real one but maybe when LO is a bit older.  We put up the tree about a week ago and LO just LOVES starring at it (and grabbing the shiny ornaments).
  • Babywear said:

Fake, cos thats the norm 'round these parts.

@babywear Are there pine trees in Australia? Sorry for the dumb question.

  • I have  small 4 foot  fake one from when we were still in our apartment that we are using again this year. I don't think DH will ever go for a real one, too much work. I can't wait to get  huge, fluffy fake one though, our current one just looks thin and sad.
