Chest pains anyone?

So I have been having these strange chest pains for a month or so and I keep forgetting to ask my Dr. about them. I am guessing it is a form of indigestion or gas that comes and goes. It doesn't feel like acid reflux though. Anyway, the best way I can describe it is like I swallowed something sharp wrong like a tortilla chip. Or like I swallowed a bunch of air. Does that even make sense? Anyone else have this feeling or am I totally alone?

I plan to ask my doctor this week when I go in.

Re: Chest pains anyone?

  • I agree about calling. I had chest pain for two weeks that I thought was "just a normal pregnancy thing" and turned out to be bronchitis. I feel infinitely better now that it's being treated. Never hurts to call :)

  • Thanks ladies. I will ask when I go in this week. It's not bad so I think it can wait until my appt.

  • With DD I had what I thought was chest pain and asked my OB about it. It was just heartburn. I never have had heartburn before I was pregnant with DD so I had no idea how painful it can be or what it felt like! I kind of felt dumb when I asked my OB but boy was I glad I asked! Never had heartburn again after she was born until this time. It was the tell tale sign I was pregnant this time. Maybe it's heartburn?
  • I have had some sharp pains in my chest area that feel like stabbing pains and then go away after a few seconds. Not sure what they are from so I can't help you there.

But from what you are describing it sounds extremely uncomfortable. I would definitely call your doc and go in for an appointment just to make sure everything is ok. Sometimes I feel like I have a hard time breathing, but I think it's just my insides getting more squished as baby grows.

  • Go in and get it checked out, better safe than sorry. I've had something like that most of my life, turns out that's how my panic attacks start manifesting. I had to go through a lot of testing to rule out some scary stuff before the docs decided it was panic attacks.
