Trying to Get Pregnant

False positive? *Update* (BFP mentioned)

edited November 2014 in Trying to Get Pregnant
I've been on TTGP board for a few months. Last night I took a test and it was a BFN. A few hours later while using the bathroom I glanced in the trash and it was a BFP and I thought I was moving to the 1st tri board. I have been experiencing a bunch of symptoms but thought it would be too early to test but threw caution in the wind. I tested again with two different tests today and both were BFNs, so far anyway. I don't know what to think or where to post so I apologize if I should be posting this somewhere else. Anyone else experience this? I have an appointment already scheduled for early December with obgyn just in case. My period isn't due until the day after thanksgiving so I was planning on testing after then. I think I may be going BSC! Ugh!

  • Sadly thanks for the info.

  • Evaporation lines are real. They give you that window of time for a reason. The good news is, if your period isn't even due, it doesn't necessarily mean you won't get a positive eventually. Keep testing until a positive or a period.

  • False positives are rare. Follow the instructions next time and you won't feel in limbo. Retest in a few days. (It does advise this in the instructions too).

  • ditto all pp's.  don't read the test after the time limit.  What you most likely saw was an evap line.

I do not think you need to see your ob inearly Dec.  Wait until you get a pos test with in the actual time frame of the test.

  • False positives are not common.  You may have seen an evap line if you looked at it outside the time window listed on the instructions.  If you still don't have your period in a week, take another test.  Good luck.

  • I had the same exact thing happen to me a week ago. I'm not pregnant :( Just an evap line. I know how you feel, I also got excited!
  • One time I did that, put a test in the trash then looked 6 or 7 hours later and got a positive. I was so excited...until I figured out it was just the evap line.

  • Just wanted to let everyone know that they were not evap lines. I have been retesting daily and have gotten multiple bfps. Just keep testing and trust your body ladies, not the internet. Also I read somewhere that when u hold a test up the light evap lines don't show up and positives do. Glad I didn't cancel that appointment. Good luck to everyone! Hoping you all get bfps soon!
  • Hmm. I don't "trust the Internet" so this must be trolling.

Oh dear, now I feel like an idiot trying to be nice to you by relating my evap line story to you. Thanks for rubbing your positive in our faces, and making (a lot) of us feel pretty shitty!

  • You can just fuck right off with your braggy fucking "update."

Between the six hundred fucking pregnancy announcements IRL and several gender reveals this week alone (let alone waking up to a fucking acquaintance group texting me of her BFP) I'm ragey today and think you should fuck right off.
