it can be a free standing piece of furniture type thing or something else...just not basic plastic bins or the plastic drawer things b/c that is what i have now and they're not really fitting the bill- they get really messy, overstuffed, and dont have nice little compartments for things like I would like to see (at least the ones I have which are mostly just the plastic rubbermaid drawer things- smaller ones that fit stacks of paper or crayons/markers and the kind that is like 3 ft high with 4 drawers.
Also can't be wall mounted or need a lot of surface space

. Picky right?
Thanks!

DS insisted on putting it in his room. It's a mess now and mostly just holds different types of paper. I might move it to the living room, so it's more accessible.
My new system is a bunch of caddies with handles, like these:

Crayons, markers, glue, scissors, etc. are sorted by section and labeled. (I label stuff with masking tape and a sharpie.) We keep them on a shelf above the kids' desk. Definitely following this post for other ideas!
For closesd storage, we have a couple of these: https://www.target.com/p/sterilite-stack-carry-3-tray-organizer-intense-jade-green/-/A-14779289 and a couple of these: https://www.sterilite.com/SelectProduct.html?id=788&ProductCategory=0§ion=0 that we're currently having the best luck with.
Love the first one because I can store googly eyes, beads, etc in the top compartments.
