WWYD?

Holland is teething. She's had 2 doses of Tylenol to help keep her fever down today. But all day long she's just been SO tired. Like take an hour an a half nap 3 times tired.

Well it's now 2 hours past bedtime and she's not wanting to sleep. We've nursed, I've tried rocking & singing, and just laying in the dark.

Kind of having an "well that was stupid" moment for letting her nap all day.

What's next? CIO in her crib? Just let her hang? She's super clingy, I think because even with Tylenol she still doesn't feel good.

Maybe just a dear diary...but any thoughts or commiserating is appreciated.

  • I'm sorry I don't really have any advice. I don't think I'd let her CIO in the crib though since she's not feeling good. Maybe some snuggles with mama for a bit before you try again. Or a nice bath.

  • We just had the girls needles today and one didn't react well and wouldn't go to sleep I just took her for a drive and she fell asleep in the car then moved her to her bed. You could try that sorry your going through this!
  • I didn't see this until now. What did you end up doing and how is she?

  • We gave our son Tylenol for teething pain and I think he actually had a reaction to it. He would scream and scream shortly after we gave it to him until he was almost ready for the 2nd does. He calmed down... gave it again and he started screaming again. I found out some babies are sensitive to it - ringing of the ears, stomach aches, etc. We'll definitely check with his pedi. Just thought I would mention it.

  • That was us last week... She was getting her second tooth and more of number 1 so her naps were weird she took a 3 hour nap one day! It was awesome but messed with the rest of the day.

I end up just letting her wear herself out on our bed and then when she's ready I nurse her to sleep. That usually works but not always
  • Just being devils advocate, but are you sure she's not really "sick"? My pedi told me once that a fever associated with teething shouldn't be very high, more like a lower grade one. I'm not sure what Hollands one was exactly? Poor baby girl....when they are like this it's the saddest thing! :(
  • @wildhoney4508‌ about a month ago she had a fever that came with a snotty nose for a week, so I assumed that was her being sick. At first I did think it was teething.

This week she started out high at 102.5, and it has continually gone down. Sunday she was in the 100's & yesterday in the 99's. She doesn't have any other disconcerting symptoms, just cranky, running warm, & I can see the teeth under her gums.

  • @NanaCook‌ ah I see! My LO had the reddest cheeks ever all week and was super cranky...then, low and behold, up pops another tooth yesterday! (She has 2 now) I just wish they all didn't gave to go through such terrible pain this little... :(( hope Holland is feeling better...also FYI I have been buying all these hard teething toys all week, which really seem to help her poor gums! Worth a shot? I also give Hylands teething tablets under her tongue, which I think soothes her as well!

  • @wildhoney4508‌ thanks for the advice! I actually just found my bottle of teething tablets today!

But another theory is that she might have/have had roseola. She had a fever & was fussy.....then this morning she woke up with a rash all over her abdomen. My SIL said her little boy had the same thing & when she took him into the pedi that's what he diagnosed it as.

Yes- I have heard the same thing and had a friend whose LO had that as well.
